Job Description
Ducommun is a distinguished and historic company, founded in 1849, making it the oldest company in California. It began as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and played a pivotal role in the emergence of the aerospace industry in Southern California by supplying aircraft aluminum to legendary pioneers such as Lindbergh, Douglas, and Lockheed. Over the years, Ducommun has transformed into a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions, catering to customers in the aerospace, defense, and industrial markets. The company specializes in producing electronic and structural systems, delivering complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications.
Ducommun's facility in Carson, California, known as the Engineered Products Group location, is home to several cutting-edge departments, including Human Machine Interface, Motion Control Device, and Radiofrequency Departments. This facility represents a hub of advanced manufacturing and engineering expertise dedicated to providing high-quality products and solutions that meet the demanding requirements of the aerospace and defense industries. The company culture is highly regarded, having been recognized by Newsweek as one of the Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces. Employees enjoy a clean and climate-controlled working environment, significant opportunities for career advancement, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid vacation and sick time, a 401K match, an Employee Stock Purchase Program, an annual bonus plan, and tuition reimbursement.
The Electromechanical Assembler II role at Ducommun is an opportunity for skilled professionals to join a venerable company with a rich legacy and a commitment to innovation. This position entails performing light electronic and electromechanical assembly work on Radiofrequency switches, pushbutton switches, and similar assemblies. Candidates should have experience soldering, preferably with J-STD-001 certification, which is essential for meeting the precise manufacturing standards Ducommun upholds. The role requires high-level skills in interpreting complex schematics, drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and specifications. Candidates must demonstrate excellent manual dexterity, with proficiency in using a wide variety of hand tools, and be capable of performing tasks like soldering, wiring, crimping, and cable routing, often in challenging and confined spaces.
The job entails working on long cycle operations that involve assembling complete units composed of complex sub-assemblies. Responsibilities may also include troubleshooting and reworking production items, reviewing and verifying the completeness of shop packet materials, and collaborating with support personnel to resolve any discrepancies. While procedural decisions such as fitting and soldering are required, these must align with established guidelines, ensuring quality and consistency. Effective planning of work sequences and sound judgment in assessing the workability of completed items is crucial. The role demands a focus on safety, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Overall, this position offers an exciting chance to contribute to high-technology manufacturing in a stable and forward-thinking company environment. The hourly pay rate ranges between USD 24.00 and 26.00, reflective of the candidate's experience level, which may vary from entry to expert, ensuring fair compensation aligned with skill and expertise.
