The Electro-Mechanical Technician role at Novolex, based in Macon, Georgia, is a vital position responsible for maintaining and repairing manufacturing equipment to ensure production standards are met. This role is offered as a full-time position with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $34.95 to $40.76, paid weekly. The position is set on the 2nd shift, operating 12-hour shifts from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM on a 5-2-2-5 schedule, catering to the demands of continuous manufacturing operations. The Electro-Mechanical Technician’s responsibilities include fabricating unavailable parts, troubleshooting electrical controls, maintaining motor control centers, and working with programmable logic controls to ensure seamless production. Communication with maintenance and production supervisors is critical to managing projects effectively and upholding safety and quality standards. The role also involves assisting in training other personnel, emphasizing both technical skill development and adherence to safety protocols.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Five or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Three or more years of experience in mechanics
  • Three or more years of experience in controls
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems
  • Ability to read and interpret PLC ladder diagrams and wiring diagrams
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a high sense of urgency
  • Good attendance and safety records
  • Physical ability to work in manufacturing conditions including standing for long periods, sitting for extended durations, climbing ladders, and exposure to noise and varying temperatures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Demonstrated industrial maintenance experience
  • At least five years of experience in a manufacturing environment including successful completion of similar job activities
  • At least three years of experience in mechanics
  • At least three years of experience in controls
  • Demonstrated self-compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), Maintenance Connection experience preferred
  • Technical school certificate or diploma in a related field such as electronics technology or electro-mechanical engineering technology is preferred

Job Duties

  • Repair, modify, and maintain manufacturing equipment to ensure products are in specification
  • Fabricate parts not commercially available
  • Troubleshoot electric controls, motor control centers, and programmable logic controls
  • Communicate on all project needs with maintenance and production supervisors/managers
  • Assist in the training and skill upgrading of other maintenance and production personnel
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards to maintain a safe work area
  • Maintain effective communication with operators and plant supervision
  • Immediately address and report safety issues or hazards
  • Maintain excellent safety record
  • Maintain an excellent attendance record
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
  • Show a strong sense of urgency
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate intermediate computer knowledge
  • Apply excellent problem-solving skills
