BAE Systems' Platforms & Services (P&S) sector is tasked with some of the most critical defense responsibilities, including armored combat vehicles, naval guns, missile launchers, and ship repair services. The P&S sector is proud of its contribution to national security and the value it provides to those who serve. Employees in this sector are engaged in complex and rewarding work that supports the safety and efficiency of military operations worldwide. Joining BAE Systems P&S means becoming a part of a committed group that takes pride in the importance of their work and the impact it has on national defense.
The role of Assembler at BAE Systems Platforms & Services is essential in the manufacturing, assembly, testing, modification, and repair of mechanical, electronic, and electro-mechanical equipment. This position works at both the sub-assembly and system level, ensuring the highest quality and functionality before components move to subsequent assembly stages. The Assembler is tasked with installing and connecting electronic, electro-hydraulic, or mechanical systems to test stands, interfacing with related components and test equipment to perform precision, functional, and operational tests. This ensures the reliability and performance of equipment used in critical defense systems.
The position requires working under the supervision of a Team Leader who provides minimal instructions but is available for consultation as needed. The Assembler is responsible for validating work-in-progress operations for quality, maintaining housekeeping and adhering to safety standards, and managing responsibilities such as clocking in and out via computerized time systems and closing shop order sequences. This is a second-shift position, with work hours from Monday through Thursday, 4 PM to 2:30 AM. Candidates must be willing to undergo up to six months of day-shift training from 5:30 AM to 4 PM before transitioning to the second shift.
This role demands meticulous attention to detail, the ability to refurbish and repair assemblies according to technical instructions, and proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools, as well as electronic and mechanical measuring devices. The physical demands of the job include standing for extended periods, stooping, bending, reaching, climbing, and handling objects weighing up to 40 pounds with lifting equipment available for heavier loads.
The Assembler role at BAE Systems grants union employment governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement that determines wages and benefits. Employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that typically includes health, dental, and vision insurance, health savings accounts, a 401(k) savings plan, disability coverage, life and accident insurance, employee assistance programs, paid time off, and other perks. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to national security while growing a career in a world-class defense company that values innovation, teamwork, and technical excellence.
