Job Description

Founded on principles of innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence, Georgia-Pacific operates a leading facility in Lexington, Kentucky, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and innovation to ensure the production of Dixie products meets the highest standards. The company is a part of Koch Industries, a global leader with diverse interests and a strong dedication to fostering an inclusive and empowering work culture where employees are encouraged to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement.

The Lexington plant focuses on utilizing advanced manufacturing processes and cutting-edge equipment, supported by skilled tradespeople including electricians and systems technicians who maintain and enhance the reliability of complex machinery. These employees play a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation of the facility that serves a significant market demand. The company offers a competitive compensation package starting at $35.78 per hour along with a $3,000 sign-on bonus to attract top talent, along with flexible work schedules involving 12-hour shifts starting either early morning or evening, with additional expectations for weekend and holiday work, promoting a dynamic and adaptive workforce.

The Level II Systems & Electronic Technician role is a highly skilled and technical position critical to the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electronic systems across the facility. This position requires a thorough understanding of electrical controls, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motor starter circuits, relay logic circuits, AC/DC drive systems, and overall plant-wide electrical systems. The technician will perform a variety of complex tasks such as installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical hardware, interpreting schematics and blueprints, and using specialized tools like multi-meters and amp meters for diagnostics and repairs.

In this role, technicians are expected not only to apply their technical skills with precision but also to adhere strictly to electrical safe work practices (ESWP), including Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for themselves and their colleagues. The role is physically demanding, requiring work in hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environments and the ability to work from lifts and ladders safely.

Beyond technical expertise, the position demands a commitment to continuous learning and development by seeking relevant training and knowledge enhancements. The Level II Technician is also tasked with mentoring and training junior technicians, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment. Additional responsibilities include identifying workplace hazards, promoting adherence to safety regulations, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and demonstrating motivation in taking on project work that drives improvements and operational excellence within the plant.

Georgia-Pacific and Koch Industries pride themselves on a hiring philosophy that values diversity of thought, background, and experience, actively welcoming veterans and individuals seeking second chances. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package aimed at supporting employee well-being across physical, financial, and emotional dimensions. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, life and disability insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, educational assistance, and more, ensuring that employees and their families have the support they need to thrive.

Joining Georgia-Pacific as a Level II Systems & Electronic Technician means becoming part of a forward-thinking, innovative team dedicated to manufacturing excellence and sustainability. The role offers an opportunity to develop specialized skill sets, engage in a team-oriented culture, and contribute to producing products used daily by millions. With a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement, this position is ideal for experienced technicians seeking a challenging and rewarding career in a leading manufacturing environment.
