This dynamic and mission-critical domain encompasses overseeing all physical infrastructure elements such as servers, storage systems, networking equipment, power supplies, and cooling mechanisms. AWS's cloud platform is trusted by startups, enterprises, and Fortune 500 companies alike, making the role of AWS Infrastructure Services integral to maintaining seamless cloud services with high availability and performance. The department tackles some of the most complex challenges in supply chain management and infrastructure engineering, focusing on delivering highly available and cost-efficient services at a global scale. AWS Infrastructure Services is committed to an inclusive culture that embraces bold ideas and empowers employees to lead initiatives from conception to implementation.
The role of a Colo Regional Engineer is a highly specialized position within AWS Infrastructure Services. This role invites engineers passionate about data center design and seeking to take on a challenge by making independent and critical decisions to support AWS's continually expanding data center portfolio. The Colo Regional Engineer is key in ensuring that AWS's colocation facilities meet rigorous standards for safety, security, availability, and operational excellence. Responsibilities include conducting detailed site assessments for data centers, reviewing vendor infrastructure designs, performing risk analyses, and troubleshooting operational failures. The role requires significant collaboration across diverse teams including business development, engineering, operations, safety, and external vendors. A successful candidate will utilize their deep understanding of data center mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural (MEPS) systems to design facility upgrades that enhance capacity, reliability, and efficiency. This position involves active leadership in engineering site audits, construction support, quality assurance, and continuous improvement efforts across multiple locations. Furthermore, the role offers exposure to technical standards development and the opportunity to influence the future design direction of AWS's global colocation infrastructure. Working at AWS provides a fast-paced and rewarding environment that fosters career growth and innovation, supported by extensive resources and a culture prioritizing work-life harmony.
