Job Description
RTX, also known as Raytheon Technologies, is the world's largest aerospace and defense company, employing approximately 185,000 talented individuals united by a shared purpose. As a leader in the aerospace and defense industry, RTX combines more than a century of experience and renowned engineering expertise to provide innovative solutions that support national security and defense for the United States and allied nations. The company’s operations span across three market-leading businesses, encompassing research and development, manufacturing, and technology integration, aiming to push the boundaries of science to connect and protect the world in new and effective ways.
Raytheon’s commitment to innovation, safety, and quality is demonstrated through its development and delivery of complex defense and naval systems that defend freedoms and deter aggression globally. Joining RTX means being part of a collaborative work environment that values safety, trust, respect, accountability, collaboration, and innovation. The company offers a dynamic workplace where employees have access to world-class resources and continuous learning opportunities to help shape the future of aerospace and defense.
The Electrical Assembly II (Electro-Mechanical Assembler) role at RTX is an onsite position based in Chesapeake, Virginia, requiring U.S. citizenship due to the sensitive nature of the work involved. This position is primarily aligned with Navy and defense-related systems assembly, focusing on electro-mechanical builds, wiring, repairs, and inspections. As a second shift role after an initial 6-8 week first shift training period, the job demands precision, attention to detail, and a strong ability to interpret engineering documentation.
In this role, the assembler will be responsible for system-level and subassembly-level builds including small-gauge wiring, soldering, crimping, and cable routing. They are expected to work with MIL-STD drawings, adhere to Raytheon’s process specifications and quality standards, and support mechanical and electrical assembly of shipboard equipment. The role also involves performing in-process checks, visual inspections, and functional testing to ensure products meet customer and engineering requirements.
Employees must maintain accurate production documentation and uphold a safe, clean, and organized work environment following ESD and company safety protocols. Physical demands include lifting components up to 35 pounds and handling repetitive tasks while standing or sitting for extended periods. The position values team collaboration and productivity within a fast-paced fabrication and repair setting.
The salary range for this role is estimated between $23 and $28 per hour, reflective of various experience levels and qualifications. RTX provides a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement options, along with paid time off and flexible scheduling, emphasizing employee wellbeing and development. This role does not include relocation assistance and candidates should be prepared for in-person interview steps as part of RTX's secure hiring process.
Overall, this job opportunity offers an excellent pathway for individuals seeking to build a career in defense manufacturing, with the support and resources of a global industry leader dedicated to making a lasting impact on national security and technological advancement.
