The Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician role at Collins Aerospace in Phoenix, AZ, offers a unique opportunity to participate directly in the manufacturing and testing of aerospace products that impact millions worldwide. This permanent, onsite position involves performing assembly, test, fabrication, and inspection operations across various products in both standard and non-standard environments, ensuring the smooth flow of work on the production floor.
The technician will engage in interpreting technical documents including blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, and bills of materials to execute assembly tasks accurately. They will operate a broad range of hand and electrical tools, measuring devices, and light machinery to build and test products to specification. A core responsibility is to maintain product inventory at workstations, perform meticulous quality checks to identify defects or issues, and record findings precisely. The role also requires reworking and repairing assembled components in response to engineering specification changes, cementing its importance within the broader manufacturing process.
Candidates will benefit from a First Shift schedule, working Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., providing a consistent routine. The job necessitates adherence to rigorous safety and quality standards, supporting a clean and safe work environment. Candidates should be prepared to occasionally provide weekend or holiday support to meet critical customer needs. Furthermore, the position demands physical stamina and dexterity, including standing for up to eight hours, lifting product weights up to 40 lbs, bending, reaching, and fine manipulation of tools and equipment.
With no security clearance required, this role demands U.S. persons as defined by law, including U.S. citizens, nationals, permanent residents, or protected individuals. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
- U.S. Person status as defined by law
- ability to work onsite Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
- able to stand for up to 8 hours
- able to lift up to 40 lbs
- able to perform bending, stooping, reaching, turning
- able to use hands for extended periods for fine manipulation
- willing to provide occasional weekend and holiday support
- adherence to safety and quality standards
Job Qualifications
- Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g., G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
- certification of IPC Class III solder exam preferred
- experience with electronic assembly preferred
- experience in the aerospace industry preferred
