Job Description
The Elder Nutrition Program is a vital community-driven initiative designed to ensure the health and wellbeing of tribal elders through nutritious and cost-effective meal services. This program operates within stringent local, state, and federal guidelines to ensure food safety and maximize nutritional benefits for participants. As part of a larger health and human services organization, the program focuses not only on meal delivery but also on comprehensive nutrition education, wellness assessments, and resource coordination tailored to the unique needs of elder participants. The organization is committed to fostering a supportive environment where elders receive proper nourishment, education on healthy eating habits, and access to social and medical services through effective case management and community outreach.
The role of the Elder Nutrition Program Manager is central to the program's success. This position requires a highly organized and proactive individual to oversee the day-to-day operations and administrative functions of the meal delivery service. The manager will play a critical role in ensuring that all food safety practices are strictly adhered to, that menus are planned in accordance with dietary restrictions and federal regulations, and that staff are well-trained and supervised. Key responsibilities include managing kitchen staff and delivery drivers, maintaining stringent sanitary conditions, and monitoring food inventory and vendor orders to support smooth operations.
Beyond operational oversight, the program manager is tasked with conducting nutrition assessments, providing targeted nutrition education through workshops and individual guidance, and developing policies and procedures that strengthen the program's effectiveness. Managing budgets, tracking expenditures, and preparing detailed reports for various grant agencies are also essential functions of this role. Additional duties include organizing wellness checks, coordinating care services such as transportation and social security assistance, and maintaining compliance with all grant guidelines regarding record keeping.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nutrition, food service management, and program administration, combined with excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage with elders and community stakeholders. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the health outcomes of a vulnerable population through holistic nutrition programming and community-centered support. If you are a dedicated professional passionate about elder care and nutrition, this position provides a rewarding career with opportunities for growth within a supportive and mission-driven organization.
