The role of Educational Support Specialist at Right At School is a part-time, on-site position requiring 30 hours per week, offering competitive hourly compensation ranging from $29 to $33.50 based on prior experience, education, and credentials. This hourly, non-exempt position plays a crucial part in maintaining and advancing the quality of educational programs offered. The specialist works closely with curriculum, compliance, and field leadership teams to foster an environment that is not only safe and inclusive but also aligned with regulatory guidelines and best practice standards. Responsibilities extend to supporting both instructional staff and program teams by modeling effective teaching techniques, adapting lesson plans for diverse learners including those with individualized education plans, and promoting positive behavior management strategies. In addition to student-focused activities, the specialist participates in continuous program quality assessments and collaborates on improvement plans to ensure service excellence. This role is vital in ensuring students thrive academically and socially in a supportive and well-regulated after-school setting. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred but equivalent experience considered
  • Three or more years of youth development or after-school program experience
  • Ability to conduct program assessments and implement improvements
  • Knowledge of youth education best practices and quality assurance
  • Familiarity with safety and licensing regulations especially ELOP/ASES and Heritage guidelines in CA
  • Proven staff mentoring and training skills
  • Experience with behavior management and child development
  • Capability to support inclusive educational environments
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to adapt to changing goals and work priorities
  • Successful completion of background checks
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive as required
  • Physical ability to perform required tasks including lifting up to 15 pounds and mobility

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, child development, social work, or related field preferred
  • Three or more years of experience in youth development, after-school programming, or related field
  • Familiarity with conducting assessments and corrective actions
  • Strong understanding of program implementation and quality assurance
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and licensing regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to model, mentor, and train staff
  • Familiarity with behavior management and child development principles
  • Experience supporting inclusive environments for diverse students
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Strong change agility and adaptability to shifting goals
  • Ability to meet pre- and post-hire requirements including background checks
  • Ability to drive to schools and comply with vehicle policies
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting and mobility tasks

Job Duties

  • Implement individualized and small-group instruction and lesson plans
  • Adapt materials to support students with special needs including IEPs and 504 or ELL plans
  • Foster positive relationships with students and encourage independence and self-regulation
  • Provide behavioral support and implement behavior management plans
  • Perform personal care tasks as directed
  • Ensure compliance with all company, licensing, and district-specific policies and processes
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness standards within program environments
  • Monitor and supervise students to ensure safety and inclusion
  • Collect and provide feedback on student progress and behavior data
  • Collaborate with Area Manager and Impact Team on student needs and inclusion practices
  • Support the implementation of quality assurance and safety protocols
  • Conduct safety and program quality assessments regularly
  • Review and update safety procedures and emergency plans
  • Coordinate with program managers on quality and safety improvement plans
  • Collaborate on field operations effectiveness with Impact Team
  • Implement district-specific goals and initiatives
  • Adhere to licensing guidelines specific to CA programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned
