Located onsite in Huntsville, Alabama, the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Huntsville Regional Campus is seeking an experienced Education Coordinator to provide vital administrative, educational, enrollment, and logistical support to up to 70 medical students during their 3rd and 4th-year clinical experience. This role is essential in coordinating student programs, schedules, and events, facilitating smooth communication between students, faculty, and clinical sites, and ensuring compliance with accreditation and institutional standards.
The Education Coordinator will serve as the program and event planner for various student services, including orientations, graduation ceremonies, guest lectures, and other formal educational events. Maintaining extensive documentation for accreditation reports and site visits is also a key function of this position, emphasizing the importance of detail-oriented and organized record-keeping. The Coordinator works closely with physicians, their office staff, Enrollment Management, the Huntsville MSS Director, and other academic offices to create and adjust rotation schedules tailored to student needs.
This position involves direct engagement with trainee evaluations, grade calculations, and exam administration, making it a hands-on role in student assessment and academic administration. The Coordinator will also function as a crucial liaison ensuring seamless communication and logistic organization to support the medical education mission. Employment for this role is onsite at the Huntsville campus, offering a salary range between $19.80 and $25.75 per hour.
Ideal candidates will have at least an associate's degree or equivalent experience in a related field with a minimum of two years of relevant experience, preferably in academic student services or resident support. Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills are vital to success in this role. Job Duties
- Maintains program and trainee databases
- disseminates information related to educational programs, meetings, schedules and orientation to trainees through web sites and electronic or written communication
- coordinates program lectures, retreats, conferences and meetings and documents trainee and faculty attendance
- plans special events such as orientation, graduation, guest speakers/lecturers, and other formal didactic events
- works with Enrollment Management and the Huntsville MSS Director and/or Registrar to create an annual rotation schedule and any monthly changes
- maintains extensive on-going documentation for accreditation reports, accreditation site visits, trainee recruitment and trainee orientation
- provides office support as needed for faculty program directors, education administrator and trainees
- distributes, collects and inputs trainee and faculty evaluations
- proctors and administers exams
- calculates records and submits grades
- perform other duties as assigned
