Job Description
The Pueblo of Sandia is a vibrant Native American tribe located in New Mexico, known for its commitment to cultural preservation, community service, and economic development. The tribal government operates a variety of enterprises, including casino and hospitality businesses, aimed at providing employment opportunities and promoting prosperity within the community. The Pueblo of Sandia Casino and its associated food outlets are key components of this endeavor, delivering authentic experiences and superior services to guests from all walks of life. This establishment focuses on creating a work environment reflecting core values such as integrity, fairness, collaboration, communication, and recognition for outstanding performance. It fosters a professional yet supportive atmosphere that encourages personal and career growth for all team members.
The role of Busser at the Pueblo of Sandia Casino’s food outlets is an essential position that supports the efficient functioning of restaurant operations. Reporting to a supervisor and working under general supervision, the Busser plays a vital part in ensuring an exceptional guest dining experience by maintaining cleanliness and organization in dining areas, supporting servers, and enhancing the overall ambiance. This position is particularly suitable for individuals eager to enter the hospitality industry, as it offers foundational exposure with opportunities for advancement through clearly defined progression paths including Server Support, Server, Supervisor, and Manager roles.
As a Busser, the individual will deliver excellent customer service that contributes to the casino’s reputation as a destination offering restaurant service that is "Far from Ordinary." Tasks include quickly and thoroughly cleaning and resetting tables after guests depart, assisting servers with pre-bussing and beverage service, and maintaining stocked and orderly workstations. The role demands an understanding of food safety and health standards, including knowledge of tribal, federal, state, and local sanitation regulations, as well as the New Mexico Food Handlers certification acquired upon hire.
This position requires physical stamina to meet the demands of a fast-paced environment, including the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform various physical activities such as standing, walking, balancing, and crouching. The Busser must be team-oriented, able to follow instructions carefully, and maintain high personal hygiene standards. The work environment can involve indoor and limited outdoor duties, potentially subject to temperature extremes and exposure to cleaning chemicals and other hazards. Flexibility is crucial since the schedule may include weekends, holidays, and overtime as approved by management.
Employee safety and performance are prioritized, with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) established to measure success and provide ongoing feedback. This helps ensure the delivery of exceptional service aligned with the Pueblo of Sandia’s values and operational goals. Overall, the Busser role is an integral starting point for individuals seeking a rewarding career in hospitality within a culturally rich and progressive employer.
