Job Description

MISTRAS Group is a globally recognized leader in providing comprehensive technology-enabled asset protection solutions, specializing in nondestructive testing (NDT), inspections, and engineering services. With a strong presence across the United States and various international markets, the company is committed to ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of critical infrastructure and industrial assets. MISTRAS Group services a broad range of industries including oil and gas, power generation, aerospace, manufacturing, and more, making it a trusted partner for clients seeking innovative and reliable inspection solutions.

MISTRAS Group is currently hiring Eddy Current Assistants based in the Greater Houston area. These dedicated professionals are expected to travel extensively throughout the U.S. to support various projects, turnarounds, and call-out operations as needed. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team where the assistant technician works closely with Level II Eddy Current Technicians to perform nondestructive testing using the Eddy Current method—a crucial technique used to detect surface and subsurface flaws in conductive materials.

The Eddy Current Assistant position is an entry-level role designed to build foundational knowledge and practical experience in nondestructive testing methods. Assistants are responsible for supporting technicians by setting up and dismantling equipment, performing routine equipment maintenance and calibrations, and assisting with documentation and reporting of testing services. The role requires adaptability, as candidates must efficiently respond to short notice assignments and handle various tasks in different environments ranging from industrial plants to outdoor sites. The job demands physical stamina and a keen attention to detail given the nature of working with heavy equipment and operating in demanding environments.

Working at MISTRAS Group means joining an inclusive and equal opportunity employer that values diversity and promotes professional growth. The company fosters a safe and supportive workplace, upholding rigorous safety standards and operational excellence. Employees benefit from comprehensive training programs to advance their technical skills, enabling career progression within the NDT field. The company also emphasizes a flexible and resilient workforce capable of meeting client needs across multiple industries by deploying teams nationwide.

MISTRAS Group’s commitment to equal opportunity employment ensures all decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other protected class under applicable law. Employment with MISTRAS Group is offered under an "At-Will" policy, meaning either the employee or employer may end the employment relationship at any time and for any lawful reason.

This position requires candidates who hold a high school diploma or equivalent, possess valid driver’s licenses and TWIC cards, and demonstrate strong communication skills. Ability to read technical and engineering documents is preferred but not mandatory. The work environment often includes exposure to noisy industrial settings and requires employees to wear mandated safety gear and perform physical tasks involving lifting, climbing, and maneuvering in varied plant or refinery conditions. Travel is an essential component of this role, with personnel frequently working on multiple job sites and adapting to changing climates.

Joining MISTRAS Group as an Eddy Current Assistant provides a pathway to develop a career in the nondestructive testing industry while working with state-of-the-art technology and a team of professionals committed to safety and quality engineering services. This position is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience in technical fields, offering significant opportunities for learning, growth, and contributing to critical infrastructure safety nationwide.
