The role of Emergency Department (ED) Technician at Baylor Scott & White Health is crucial in the delivery of timely and effective emergency care. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum one year of experience in a healthcare setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain it within 30 days of employment
- Ability to follow safety, infection control, environmental, and isolation procedures
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in using computer applications for electronic medical records and communications
- Physical ability to assist with patient mobility and care tasks
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- One year of relevant experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Preferred Corpsman Certificate
- Preferred Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to use computer software applications for documentation and data entry
Job Duties
- Help in patient care duties by collecting data like vital signs, weight, pulse oximetry, pain scale, visual acuity, and nutritional intake
- Recognize and report abnormal data or findings promptly
- Implement Physician, Provider, and Nursing orders responsibly and document interventions according to Hospital protocol
- Provide direct technical care including assistance with mobility, toileting, feeding and other personal care needs
- Perform phlebotomy to obtain venous blood samples and deliver other specimens for Laboratory review
- Help or transport patients to and from the department
- Assist in patient education and respond empathetically to patients and family members concerns
- Perform clinical coordination activities
- Communicate effectively with Nurses, Physicians, and other healthcare team members to exchange information related to patient care
