Job Description

Austin Community College (ACC) is a prominent public two-year institution dedicated to serving a diverse and multicultural student population of approximately 41,000 credit students during each Fall and Spring semester. The Eatery '73 FOH Server role is a vital position based at the ACC Highland Campus restaurant, offering an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about delivering exceptional guest services within a dynamic culinary setting. This position is hourly and offers a pay rate of $23.00 per hour, with up to 19 hours available weekly. The primary responsibility of the server is to ensure a welcoming experience for guests by greeting them, accurately taking food and beverage orders, addressing their dining needs, and providing timely responses to inquiries. This role demands strong communication skills, an energetic and positive demeanor, and an ability to work collaboratively within a team to maintain efficient service. Servers will also be involved in managing reservations and waitlists, rotating seating to facilitate fair guest distribution among servers, operating POS systems like TOAST, and adhering to all health and safety regulations. This position is essential in maintaining the restaurant's standards and providing a high-quality hospitality experience, contributing to the broader mission of ACC to engage with its community and support student and staff success.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year prior culinary or hospitality experience in restaurants or lodging FOH capacity
  • able to provide references from past employers
  • agree to an ACC background check
  • maintain a domicile in the State of Texas while working for the college and throughout the duration of employment
  • maintain a positive, energetic and alert demeanor during all shifts

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Greeting guests, taking accurate food and beverage orders, and seating guests
  • presenting menus to guests and informing them of specials
  • listening attentively to guests to ensure accurate orders/modifications for food and beverage requests
  • managing reservations and wait list
  • rotating dining room seating so that servers are sat in cycles from section to section
  • ascertaining guests' dining needs
  • responding to guest inquiries and requests in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner
  • performing opening and closing duties, as needed
  • handling phone calls and customer queries about the restaurant and menu
  • assisting various restaurant staff when necessary
  • taking call-in/to go orders in an efficient and accurate manner
  • operating the POS system and handling transactions accurately
  • adhere to all relevant health department rules/regulations and all customer service guidelines
