Job Description

Resurrection is a Christian community-focused organization established in 1990, dedicated to fostering spiritual growth among non-religious and nominally religious individuals, guiding them towards becoming deeply committed Christians. With a mission centered on meaningful impact and community transformation, Resurrection provides a supportive environment where staff members find their work to have real purpose and significance. The organization operates with a commitment to living out Christian values and principles as a United Methodist Church, emphasizing worship, study, service, giving, and sharing as core practices for all employees.

Resurrection is currently seeking a part-time Cook to join the Business Operations division at its Early Learning Center located in Lee's Summit, Missouri. This non-exempt position involves overseeing the food service operations of the center, ensuring the preparation of meals meets state and local health standards, and that the kitchen environment maintains cleanliness and safety. The Cook plays a vital role in supporting the health and nutrition of the children and staff by managing inventory, planning menus, preparing food, purchasing supplies, and adhering to nutritional guidelines and regulations.

This role requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual who can manage daily kitchen operations efficiently, maintaining high-quality food standards while complying with all necessary health codes and safety regulations. The Cook also collaborates with other staff to support special events and curriculum activities involving food preparation, contributing to the overall positive experience for the children and families served by Resurrection's Early Learning Center. Beyond technical skills, the position calls for someone who embraces the church's mission and values, actively participating in the spiritual and community life of Resurrection. Engaging in the five essential Christian practices and supporting the church's purpose is expected of all staff members.

The Cook will be instrumental in the smooth operation of the food services by ensuring all meals are hygienically prepared and properly stored, managing inventory to optimize costs while meeting nutritional needs, and sustaining a welcoming and safe kitchen environment. This role requires flexibility, collaboration, and strong communication skills to navigate the dynamic environment of the Early Learning Center and respond to the needs of both the children and staff. Prior experience in residential, institutional, or commercial food service is essential. Resurrection values diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from candidates who share its passion for service and community development within a faith-based context.
