Job Description

The Early Intervention Specialist (EIS) position at PermiaCare is a critical role focused on supporting children from birth to three years old who face developmental delays or disabilities. The role involves conducting thorough assessments and providing targeted interventions to help children reach their developmental milestones. The EIS works primarily in home and community settings, delivering specialized skills training in accordance with the child and family's Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). This specialist plays a key role in educating families and caregivers, empowering them with strategies to promote their child's development in multiple areas.

As an EIS, the candidate will act independently, managing an assigned caseload with limited supervision while collaborating with families and interdisciplinary teams, including pediatricians and other specialists. The role requires precise documentation, compliance with federal and state regulations, and maintaining confidentiality in line with HIPAA standards. The working schedule is Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm and Friday from 7:30 am to 11:30 am, with the possibility of schedule adjustments based on client and agency needs. The hourly pay is competitive at $21.41, and a sign-on bonus may be available.

This position demands strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to operate under varying environmental conditions including office and fieldwork. Additionally, the candidate must possess a valid Texas driver’s license, maintain auto insurance, and comply with the organization's driving and insurance standards as travel and driving are integral components of this role. The successful candidate should be comfortable with physical activity required to engage with young children, including lifting, sitting on the floor, and active movement.

Job Requirements

Bachelors degree from accredited college or university in field approved by ECI such as Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Special Education, Child Development, Health, Family Studies or related field
Completion of 3 semester hours of early childhood special education or 40 clock hours of continuing education in early childhood development or early childhood special education prior to hire
At least 1 year experience in early childhood development or related field or experience with young children with developmental delays preferred
Valid Texas driver’s license
Auto liability insurance
Driving record acceptable to employer’s insurance requirements
Pass criminal history and background checks
Pre-employment drug screen
Completion of competency demonstration as mandated by ECI
Must become fully certified EIS within 1 year
Maintain confidentiality compliant with HIPAA
Reliable transportation

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

Provide specialized skills training in child's natural environment as prescribed on ISFP
Participate in initial and ongoing developmental assessments, Individual Family Services Plan planning and communicating with an interdisciplinary team
Identify child/family needs and provide case management to address educational, social, medical and developmental needs
Create and provide strategies to accomplish individualized outcomes for children and families
Provide consultation in areas of expertise to families and other team members
Monitor the developmental progress and needs of children on assigned caseload
Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team, families, pediatricians and other professionals
Maintain accurate and complete records of assessments, progress notes and treatment plans
Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations
Meet unit performance measures or targets
Maintain assigned caseload
Coordinate services appropriately to designated caseload
Enter accurate and appropriate documentation of services within required timeframe
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive records and treatment information in compliance with HIPAA and established procedures
Maintain regular and reliable physical on-site attendance
Comply with the Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation policy and reporting requirements
Adhere to the Code of Conduct and Standards of Behavior policy requirements
Establish and maintain effective work relationships with individuals served and their families, supervisors, co-workers and visitors
Communicate regularly with supervisor
