Job Description
Hilmar Cheese Company, established in 1984, is a leading name in the dairy industry, renowned for its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and quality. Based in Hilmar, California, the company is recognized for converting high-quality, locally sourced milk into a diverse range of nutritious dairy products, including cheeses, whey protein, and lactose. These products serve as essential ingredients in numerous retail and food service offerings worldwide, from sliced and shredded cheeses to protein supplements and infant formulas. Hilmar Cheese Company partners with premier food and beverage brands across more than fifty countries, helping these brands bring their culinary visions to reality. The company prides itself on fostering a work environment driven by core values and a steadfast mission, uniting its employees in achieving excellence while maintaining a deep commitment to food safety and environmental stewardship.
The role of the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Coordinator at Hilmar Cheese Company offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the long-term strategic planning and operational efficiency of the company's electrical and instrumentation systems. As an integral part of the maintenance and engineering teams, the E&I Coordinator supports and coordinates efforts that ensure the seamless functioning of the site’s equipment and systems. This position involves working closely with E&I Technicians, engineering professionals, manufacturing staff, outside contractors, and maintenance personnel to optimize the reliability and performance of electrical and instrumentation infrastructure.
The coordinator is responsible for developing and refining electrical system projects, employing engineering solutions to mitigate recurrent electrical and instrumentation failures, and exploring innovative methods and hardware to enhance system efficiency. Communication is a critical aspect of the role, requiring daily interaction with the Maintenance Manager to address site-specific issues and proactive problem-solving for equipment breakdowns during both regular business hours and on-call situations. Additionally, the E&I Coordinator plays a vital role in mentoring and developing hourly department staff, promoting professional growth and fostering a safety-first culture.
This role requires active membership in the A/ERT (Automatic/Emergency Response Team) to respond effectively to emergency situations and maintain certifications in First Aid, CPR, and AED. The position demands participation in comprehensive safety and food safety training programs to uphold the company's high standards for product quality and workplace safety. The E&I Coordinator also engages in food safety and sanitation root cause analysis and improvement activities, underscoring the company's prioritization of health and safety in all operations.
Overall, this position at Hilmar Cheese Company offers a challenging and rewarding career path with room for professional development and the chance to contribute to a globally respected dairy producer. The salary range for this full-time position is competitive, spanning from $103,145 to $154,718 annually, with final compensation contingent upon education, experience, knowledge, skills, and alignment with internal equity and market data. Individuals with a strong leadership background, technical expertise in electrical and instrumentation systems, and a dedication to continuous improvement and safety will find this role particularly fulfilling.
