Job Description

Join Easter Seals Southern California, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to providing exceptional support and services to individuals with disabilities. Our mission is to offer empowerment, independence, and community involvement to those we serve through high-quality care and innovative programs. With decades of experience, Easter Seals has become a trusted name in disability services, offering residential programs, day services, and employment support that make meaningful differences in people’s lives. Our residential facilities are designed to create a safe and nurturing environment where residents can thrive, develop essential life skills, and achieve a greater level of autonomy.

We are currently seeking compassionate and dedicated caregivers to join our residential team and provide direct support to residents living in our facilities. This is a rewarding role for individuals passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of people with disabilities. As a caregiver, you will work under direct supervision to attend to the personal care needs of residents, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being in a supportive residential setting. You will have the opportunity to assist in a variety of daily activities that promote the development of independent living skills, aligned with each resident’s Individual Program Plan (IPP) and Individual Support Plan (ISP) goals.

This position offers a starting wage of $21.00 per hour and is ideal for those who have been caregivers before or are looking to start a fulfilling career in caregiving. Your responsibilities will include administering and monitoring medications, assisting with personal hygiene, meal preparation, and feeding – including G-tube feeding when necessary. You will also support residents by transporting them to healthcare appointments and community outings, fostering engagement and social inclusion.

Additionally, the caregiver will contribute to maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the residential home, including laundering and ironing residents’ clothes. Documentation and accurate record-keeping are essential in this role, as you will be expected to complete daily reports and communicate effectively with the care team. This role requires physical stamina to assist with transfers of residents who have no weight-bearing skills and the ability to lift up to 70 pounds.

A successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and discretion within a confidential work environment. Certifications required include DSP-I and DSP-II, valid CPR, CPI, and First Aid to ensure that residents receive the best possible care. The role also requires passing a post-offer medical examination, tuberculosis test, and obtaining criminal record clearance, reflecting Easter Seals’ commitment to a safe and trustworthy caregiving team.

This role is a great fit for compassionate, patient individuals who enjoy helping others and want to make a positive difference every day. You will be part of a supportive team dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities through personalized, empathetic care. If you have 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent training and education, and you enjoy a hands-on, physically active role, we encourage you to apply and join our meaningful work at Easter Seals Southern California.
