Job Description
Hub Group Final Mile is a specialized division of Hub Group, a leading provider of comprehensive transportation management and logistics services in the United States. With a strong reputation for reliability and efficiency, Hub Group Final Mile focuses specifically on the 'final mile' delivery segment, which is a critical component in the supply chain ensuring that goods reach their final destination—the customer's doorstep. This division caters primarily to residential deliveries, handling sensitive and bulky items like appliances, which require precision, care, and expert handling. The company maintains a large, diverse fleet and leverages technology to optimize delivery routes and enhance customer satisfaction. Located in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Hub Group Final Mile is currently seeking Non-CDL Independent Contractors to join their team, offering a compelling opportunity for owner-operators who have the appropriate equipment and skills to perform deliveries and installations of household appliances.
This particular role as a Driver Helper with a 26-foot box truck equipped with a liftgate is designed for independent contractors who want to manage their business with the support of a well-established logistics leader. The position offers a home-daily schedule, balancing the demands of a trucking career with the benefits of regular home time, a highly valued perk in the transportation industry. Contractors can gross up to $4,000 per week per truck, reflecting the high demand, competitive pay scale, and commitment to rewarding the dedicated workforce. Payments are made weekly through direct deposit, featuring convenient online settlement access, which provides transparency and ease of managing contract finances.
In this role, contractors are responsible for performing appliance delivery and basic installation duties. This includes handling a variety of home appliances such as refrigerators, microwave ovens, dishwashers, washers, dryers, and other related appliances. Installation responsibilities require the contractors to use a personal set of tools and have professional or learnable skills in appliance installation. Detailed understanding and application of manufacturer instructions are crucial to ensure appliances are installed properly for customer satisfaction and safety. Besides driving and delivery, contractors must be adept at maneuvering heavy appliances with the help of appropriate equipment or assistance from a team member, which makes this a physically engaging role.
To qualify for this opportunity, contractors must own, rent, or lease a 26-foot box truck equipped with a liftgate and provide a driver helper as part of the delivery team. An active MC Operating Authority and DOT number with the FMCSA are required or the willingness to obtain these credentials. Moreover, a valid driver's license and a good driving record are essential. The role emphasizes professionalism and reliability, encouraging candidates with prior experience in appliance installation or a strong desire to learn and develop these specialized skills. Hub Group Final Mile offers contractors a platform to build their independent business while utilizing the resources, reputation, and logistical excellence of a well-established company. The position combines competitive earnings, job consistency, and a favorable work-home balance, making it attractive to owner-operators who value autonomy and growth potential in the transportation sector.
