The company fosters an inclusive and equitable workplace, considering all candidates fairly regardless of age, race, religion, gender, or disability, thus representing a true opportunity for a diverse group of talent.

As a Driver Trainee at McLane, you will embark on a rewarding career path that builds the foundation for a professional commercial driving role. This role is designed as an essential developmental position where you will learn the core functions of a McLane Driver through hands-on experience and comprehensive training. You will be responsible for mastering the timely and accurate distribution of products to various customer locations, supporting the overall mission of keeping America’s supply chains robust and efficient. The Driver Trainee position includes exposure to warehouse operations and other relevant operational functions that prepare you for a full driver role.

McLane offers competitive compensation starting with a pay rate of $27.75 per hour during training and potential earnings ranging from $75,000 to $115,000 annually after completing the training and acquiring a Class A CDL license. This position is regional and emphasizes safety alongside getting drivers home safely and more often, setting McLane apart as an employer that values both professional growth and quality of life.

In this role, you will train under skilled Driver Trainers, gaining practical knowledge about maneuvering tractor-trailers, conducting safety inspections, using delivery technology devices, and adhering to local, state, and federal regulations. The program focuses on developing your skills in starting engines properly, navigating different traffic situations, performing backing and parking maneuvers, and securing transported products. You will maintain driver logs in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, assist with deliveries to customer premises, and gradually handle more responsibilities to ensure you’re fully prepared for a position as a professional McLane Driver.

McLane’s dedication to employee benefit plans is strong, beginning from day one. Team members enjoy medical, dental, and vision insurance, FSAs/HSAs, company-paid life insurance, paid holidays, sick leave accrual, and vacation time starting immediately. The company also offers a 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan after 90 days, along with additional perks such as pet insurance, maternity/paternity leave, employee assistance programs, tuition reimbursement, and various discount programs, demonstrating a comprehensive commitment to employee wellbeing and support.

Joining McLane means stepping into a future shaped by a trusted brand with deep roots in distribution and logistics, alongside a team-oriented work environment and opportunities for career advancement within a growing company. This role suits individuals who are safety-focused, reliable, adaptable, and dedicated to achieving professional success while contributing to a vital service sector. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, possess a high school diploma or GED, and be able to meet all eligibility requirements outlined in McLane’s transfer and promotion policy. Completion of training and obtaining a Class A CDL license within six months is essential for progressing in this career pathway.
