The organization values adaptability, dedication, and excellence, reflected in its approach to workforce training and operational practices.
The company is currently seeking to hire a Driver, Trainee Component who will undergo comprehensive development to become a full-fledged McLane driver. This role is instrumental in learning the operational functions of driving, including safe and timely product distribution to various customer locations. The trainee will gain exposure not only to driving but also warehouse and logistical operations integral to successful delivery management. McLane offers competitive pay starting at $26.00 per hour during training with potential earnings reaching between $75,000 and $80,000 annually following successful completion of training. From day one, employees benefit from comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with life insurance paid by the company. Additional perks include paid holidays, vacation and sick leave accrual, a 401(k) profit sharing plan, and other incentives such as pet insurance, maternity/paternity leave, employee assistance programs, discount programs, and tuition reimbursement.
As a Trainee Component Driver, the individual will learn to maneuver tractor-trailers safely while adhering strictly to all local, state, and federal regulations. They will be responsible for inspecting equipment before and after trips, helping to ensure product security and undamaged delivery. Learning from experienced Driver Trainers, trainees will build their skills in vehicle operation, customer service, and documentation practices such as driver log maintenance and delivery receipt reporting. This role requires a commitment to safety and presenting a professional image when engaging with customers. The position also demands physical tasks like loading and unloading products, ensuring that trainees are prepared for all aspects of the driver role.
McLane values candidates with a high school diploma or GED, a Class A CDL, and the ability to meet the company’s transfer and promotion policies. The role requires candidates to be at least 21 years old and have the capability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English in order to meet the demands of job safety and operational clarity.
