Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Possess a valid Class A CDL
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Meet McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy eligibility
  • Ability and willingness to handle select, load, unload and deliver products
  • Ability to read and comprehend job-related documents and perform basic math
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to safely operate tractor-trailer and related equipment
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English at a level necessary for safety and operations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Possess a Class A CDL
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Meet eligibility requirements in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy
  • Ability and willingness to select, load, unload and/or deliver all products ordered by McLane customers
  • Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading
  • Perform mathematical calculations to verify product quantities
  • Communicate effectively with customers, management, and teammates
  • Safely drive tractor-trailer and use two-wheeled dolly, ramp, and PeopleNet devices
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English sufficiently to perform job-related tasks safely and effectively

Job Duties

  • Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and handle lines to secure
  • Operate truck safely in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
  • Inspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspection report
  • Operate Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH), document delivery receipts/product temperatures and exceptions, and inspect trailer to ensure secure and undamaged product transport
  • Ride and train with Driver Trainer to various destinations, learning commercial driving regulations and observing driving skills
  • Maintain driver log (manual or PeopleNet) according to DOT regulations, documenting delivery receipt, product temperatures, and exceptions
  • Assist the Driver in unloading trailer and delivering product into customer premises
  • Provide customer service including on-time delivery of undamaged product, handling product returns, and issuing valid customer credits
  • Perform other duties as assigned
