Continuously embracing new technology and emphasizing comprehensive team member training, McLane prioritizes high safety standards, effective logistics, and client satisfaction across every touchpoint of its supply chain.
The Driver, Trainee Component role at McLane offers a unique opportunity for qualified drivers to launch and develop their CDL-A careers within an industry-leading organization. This position provides an immersive developmental journey where trainees gain valuable exposure to various aspects of the distribution process, from warehouse operations to the intricacies of safe vehicle handling and customer delivery. The role is geared towards honing your skills with hands-on training alongside seasoned Driver Trainers who will instruct and evaluate critical competencies such as maneuvering tractor-trailers, adhering to safety protocols, logging deliveries, and providing excellent customer service.
McLane offers competitive pay for this role, with trainee pay rates ranging between $65,000 and $75,000 annually. Upon successful completion of training, Driver earnings increase significantly, spanning from $75,000 to $110,000 per year. The company also provides regional team routes, allowing drivers to frequently return home and maintain healthy work-life balance. Beyond pay, McLane is committed to supporting its drivers with comprehensive benefits available from day one. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts (FSA/HSA), company-paid life insurance, paid holidays, vacation time accrual, and sick leave. Additional perks such as pet insurance, maternity and paternity leave, employee assistance programs, discount offerings, and tuition reimbursement programs further demonstrate McLane’s dedication to employee well-being and growth.
This role is well-suited for those with a Class A CDL who are at least 21 years old and possess a strong commitment to safety, reliability, adaptability, and dedication. Applicants will engage in both classroom and on-road training segments, mastering a broad range of responsibilities that include pre-trip and post-trip inspections, safe operation of tractor-trailers in compliance with all applicable regulations, use of delivery handheld devices, customer service interactions, and maintenance of accurate delivery logs using manual methods or PeopleNet devices. Trainees will also assist with unloading and product delivery at customer sites, ensuring product integrity and customer satisfaction. McLane’s policy requires drivers to effectively communicate in English and maintain physical capabilities required to operate and deliver products safely and efficiently.
