Job Description

Core-Mark, a division of Performance Food Group, stands as the leader in fresh and broadline solutions tailored to the convenience retail industry. Renowned across North America for its comprehensive marketing of consumer goods, Core-Mark powers convenience operators throughout the United States and Canada by providing a full spectrum of products, programs, and solutions designed to meet the dynamic needs of this fast-paced sector. The company’s growth trajectory is rooted in its commitment to empower not only its customers but also its employees and the communities it serves, fostering an environment ripe with opportunity and progressive work culture.

The employment opportunity available is a trainee helper role in the transportation division based in Tolleson, AZ, offering a starting salary of 20 dollars per hour. This full-time role primarily involves working Monday through Friday on overnight shifts, providing a solid foundation for aspiring commercial drivers. The position is an entry-level step designed to transition motivated individuals into fully licensed CDL drivers through structured training and trucking school sponsorship, coupled with hands-on experience. Core-Mark emphasizes a safe, inclusive, and respectful work atmosphere, aiming to cultivate loyalty and professional growth within its teams.

As a Driver trainee with Core-Mark, you will embark on a career critical to sustaining America’s food distribution system. Food and food service delivery drivers are indispensable connectors in the supply chain, ensuring consumer goods reach their destinations promptly and in perfect condition. Trainees ride alongside experienced drivers, assisting in the safe operation of tractor trailers, tandem trailers, and straight trucks, both within state and interstate routes. Responsibilities include product delivery, timely unloading, and accurately placing goods according to customer specifications. Trainees also handle essential documentation to guarantee compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.

Throughout the training, you will develop key skills in logistics, customer interaction, and vehicle operation, receiving ample support from experienced personnel. Success in this role opens doors to long-term employment with Core-Mark as a formula-paid CDL driver, reflecting the company’s investment in employee development. Beyond the core responsibilities, Core-Mark promotes a rewarding workplace culture featuring competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits from day one, including health and wellness programs, a 401K matching plan, an employee stock purchase option, education assistance, and paid time off.

This position is pivotal for candidates seeking a stable and fulfilling career in the transportation industry with an opportunity for advancement. The role not only demands dependable and physically capable individuals but also those who take pride in representing a respected market leader and delivering excellent customer service during every interaction. Core-Mark’s legal and ethical standards ensure a work environment free from discrimination, providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants. Candidates with a clean motor vehicle record and a strong work ethic will find an excellent career launching pad at Core-Mark.
