The Delivery Driver role at SYGMA Pennsylvania is a critical position focusing on the safe and efficient transportation of products from warehouse facilities to customer locations using tractor-trailers. Drivers typically operate 2 to 4 routes per week, with each route requiring no more than 36 hours away from home, striking a healthy work-life balance. This role offers competitive compensation, with drivers earning between $90,000 and $95,000 annually, and top earners making up to $150,000. SYGMA Pennsylvania provides paid training, enabling new hires to quickly develop the skills required for success and maximize earning potential through a combination of route pay and performance incentives.

In this role, drivers are responsible for the accurate delivery and unloading of products, adhering to detailed customer invoices and company standards. The use of brand-new, automatic transmission tractor-trailers ensures a modern and reliable driving experience. Drivers perform essential functions such as safe product transport, unloading using hand carts or by hand, and managing damaged goods and returns. They are also required to maintain accurate paperwork in compliance with company and government regulations, including DOT logs and vehicle maintenance reports.

Safety and food quality are paramount; drivers consistently apply food safety protocols by maintaining proper vehicle temperatures, inspecting products for damage, and preventing cross-contamination. They maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions of their equipment and assist in warehouse and yard upkeep when necessary. The role requires strong communication skills to coordinate with management and provide excellent customer service, fostering positive relationships through courteous and clear interactions.

The physical demands of the job include frequent lifting and moving of products weighing up to 50 pounds and pushing or pulling equipment with weights up to 350 pounds, as well as climbing in and out of trucks and performing various physical tasks related to loading and unloading. Drivers must be prepared to work an overnight schedule from Sunday through Friday, including holidays, and be flexible with start times and overtime as needed to meet customer demands.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • insurable to operate commercial vehicle
  • minimum 1 year tractor-trailer driving experience preferred
  • ability to read and speak English sufficiently
  • ability to meet physical demands of lifting up to 50 pounds and moving heavy equipment
  • ability to work overnight shifts including weekends and holidays
  • ability to follow food safety and DOT regulations
  • completion of tractor trailer driving school accepted in lieu of high school diploma

Job Duties
