Job Description
The Salvation Army is a globally recognized evangelical part of the universal Christian church dedicated to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and addressing human needs without discrimination. Founded on the core principles rooted in the Bible and motivated by the love of God, The Salvation Army operates as a charitable organization committed to serving communities and individuals in need. It has a broad range of services including disaster relief, shelters, rehabilitation programs, and feeding initiatives. The Family Meals of Hope Program is one such initiative aimed at providing nutritious meals to families during the summer months through mobile feeding efforts.
This temporary/seasonal position offers an opportunity to work Monday through Friday from 4:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a competitive pay rate of $23.00 per hour and a contract duration from May 26, 2026, to July 31, 2026. The role is essential in ensuring the effective delivery and distribution of food as part of The Salvation Army's summer feeding program, specifically through driving food trucks that service multiple locations. The primary responsibility involves adhering to protocols set forth by the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and Safe Serve rules while engaging with community volunteers and participants.
The position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail in maintaining transportation and safety documentation, and the physical ability to load and unload food and supplies. Driving is a crucial function of the role, demanding a valid driver's license and safety-conscious behavior. The employee must manage the cleanliness and operational condition of the vehicle to comply with food safety standards. Additionally, the role involves handling program participation enforcement and working collaboratively with volunteers to ensure a successful feeding experience for families in the community.
Working with The Salvation Army in this capacity means contributing to a faith-based organization dedicated to outreach and assistance. It is also a chance to develop professional skills related to logistics, customer service, and food safety within a respected nonprofit environment. This role does not involve supervisory duties, making it well-suited for individuals who thrive as dependable team members focused on impactful service delivery. Successful candidates will undergo background checks and safety training to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
