The role available is that of a Route Sales Driver, a pivotal position in ensuring that Hiland Dairy’s products reach customers promptly and are presented in an appealing and accessible manner. This role is categorized as a relief driver position, requiring flexible working hours with start times between midnight and 3:00 PM. The candidate must hold a Class A commercial driver’s license without restrictions and meet Federal D.O.T. regulations, particularly being at least 21 years of age and able to pass a physical exam and drug screening. Initially, the role offers a weekly guaranteed income of $954 before taxes plus commission during the training on routes, progressing to a full pay guarantee of $1080 plus commission upon independently managing assigned routes.

The Route Sales Driver will not only be responsible for delivering and selling dairy products but also for performing duties that involve physical exertion, such as climbing, crawling, and transporting heavy merchandise. This role demands the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat (above 100°F) and cold (below 32°F), requiring resilience and adaptability. Responsibilities also extend to managing sales transactions directly with customers, collecting payments, maintaining accurate records, soliciting new business, and promoting new products and sales initiatives.

Aside from driving, the candidate must be proficient in setting up merchandising displays, stocking shelves, and collecting empty containers or returned items. The physical aspect of the job includes the continuous handling and movement of items weighing up to 50 pounds, stacking and unstacking products from heights of up to seven feet, and moving heavier stacked items, such as milk crates weighing around 240 pounds.
