Job Description
Stericycle, now a part of WM (formerly Waste Management), is a leading company in the waste management industry, specializing in providing pivotal services such as medical waste disposal and confidential document destruction. By merging with WM, Stericycle strengthens its commitment to sustainability, customer service, and operational excellence across its wide network. WM is well-established for delivering a comprehensive range of waste solutions and environmental services while creating meaningful job opportunities for its employees. WM values stability, growth, and investment in their workforce, offering competitive compensation and extensive benefits packages designed to support employees and their families. This fosters an environment where team members can thrive both professionally and personally.
This specific role is for a Driver Route Hybrid Non-CDL position within Stericycle’s operations. The position is primarily responsible for providing industry-leading service in document destruction and medical waste removal while filling in for Commercial non-CDL drivers as needed. The Hybrid Driver works Monday through Friday with a 6:30 AM start and enjoys weekends off along with the opportunity for overtime. The role entails safely picking up and transporting confidential materials and medical waste adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring that waste is correctly packaged and securely handled at all times. As a key representative of Stericycle and WM, the driver plays an integral role in maintaining customer relationships by performing scheduled route pickups with accuracy and professionalism.
Route drivers also handle operational tasks such as pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, loading trucks, and logging necessary paperwork meticulously. They communicate any service or route changes with supervisors, promptly report maintenance issues, and contribute toward customer satisfaction by handling inquiries and problems efficiently. Physical demands such as standing, lifting, pulling, and other movements are part of the daily routine, requiring the driver to work in various weather conditions and environments, including both garage settings and outdoor locations.
The ideal candidate is 21 years or older, holds a valid driver's license, and has at least three years of driving experience, preferably with shred trucks and box trucks. While a high school diploma or GED is preferred, the company values practical experience and a commitment to safety and customer service. Stericycle and WM provide a competitive hourly wage of $25 plus overtime and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision coverage, life insurance, short-term disability, 401(k) with company match, stock purchase plans, and paid time off. Overall, this role is well suited for someone seeking a stable, growth-oriented position in a company that truly invests in its workforce and delivers essential services to communities.
