The Shred-it Route Driver position at Stericycle plays a vital role in delivering exceptional service to clients by managing their document destruction needs securely and efficiently. This role emphasizes the safe transportation of supplies and materials in compliance with company policies and local, state, and federal regulations. Employees in this position typically work a 4x10 schedule with start times at 6 am or 7 am, and offer a competitive pay rate of $24.10 per hour with overtime paid after 40 hours per week. Benefits start from the first day of employment. The primary responsibilities involve onsite and offsite document destruction, meticulous maintenance checks on vehicles, and ensuring the security of collected materials throughout the collection and transport process. The Shred-it Route Driver also ensures accurate servicing of accounts and customer satisfaction by managing routes efficiently, handling inquiries professionally, and operating equipment safely. This role requires adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including the completion of necessary logs and reports. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- valid driver’s license (Class D or higher)
- minimum three years related driving experience
- ability to comply with DOT regulations
- must pass medical examiner’s certification
- ability to complete driver logs accurately
- ability to safely operate company vehicles and equipment
- capability to work a 4x10 schedule with early start times
- ability to communicate effectively in English
- willingness to undergo mandatory immunizations based on customer requirements
Job Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience preferably in driving shred/box trucks and route management
- current driver’s license (Class D or above) with an excellent driving record
- ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand highway traffic signs and respond to official inquiries
- familiarity with DOT regulations and vehicle maintenance reporting
- strong customer service skills
- physical ability to load and unload materials safely
Job Duties
- Performs onsite/offsite document destruction of confidential information
- performs pre/post-trip checks and driver check-in on the assigned truck
- reports maintenance issues to Transportation/Dispatcher
- operates company equipment safely and efficiently
- complies with all local, state, and federal laws governing driver fitness and hours of service
- completes and maintains DOT logs when applicable
- maintains a high level of security when emptying consoles and collection totes
- services accounts using a hand-held device to ensure accuracy
- manages assigned routes ensuring timely and accurate collection of confidential material
- handles customer problems and inquiries expediently
- performs other duties as assigned
