Job Description
Loma Linda University Health is a renowned academic health system dedicated to providing exceptional care and innovative health services. Known for its commitment to holistic and compassionate patient care, Loma Linda University Health operates various specialized programs aimed at improving the quality of life for diverse patient populations. Among its many services, the Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) plays a critical role in supporting elderly patients by coordinating comprehensive healthcare and transportation tailored to their unique needs. This initiative reflects the institution's dedication to elder care, combining medical services with transportation solutions to ensure patients' seamless access to appointments and wellness activities.
Within this esteemed health system, the Driver-PACE 1 position is a full-time, day-shift role essential to the safe and timely transportation of elderly members. The responsibility centers on navigating assigned routes and adhering strictly to appointment schedules, ensuring clients are transported in appropriate vehicles that meet safety and comfort standards. This role is pivotal in supporting the overall mission of PACE by facilitating access to healthcare services while providing a compassionate and positive experience for elderly clients. Beyond transportation, the position may also encompass delivery duties and other assignments as needed, requiring adaptability and commitment to organizational goals.
The role requires more than driving skills; it demands a professional who is capable of engaging effectively with elderly and dependent adults, demonstrating patience, clear communication, and reliability. Candidates should possess a minimum of six months of experience interacting with similar populations, ideally within hospital or long-term care settings. Proficiency in English communication is critical, alongside computer literacy to operate programs like Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and handle office equipment necessary for reporting and communication tasks.
Safety and certification standards are strictly maintained, requiring a valid driver’s license at the time of hire, as well as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. A First-Aid certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment, ensuring readiness to handle emergency situations effectively. The position’s demands include the ability to manage multiple assignments, think critically under pressure, and maintain composure in challenging environments. Drivers must be attentive to detail and capable of working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining professional interactions with clients and colleagues.
This opportunity at Loma Linda University Health offers a meaningful career path for those passionate about elder care and community support. The driver role not only supports critical healthcare access but also embodies the organization’s core values of service, respect, and dedication to patient well-being. Individuals joining this team contribute significantly to the quality of life and independence of seniors enrolled in the PACE program, making this a rewarding position with a strong sense of purpose and community impact.
