Job Description

Builders FirstSource (BFS) is America’s largest supplier of building materials, value-added components, and building services to professional markets. As a leader in the construction supply industry, BFS operates across the country with a commitment to quality, safety, and career development. The company focuses on improving how builders build by delivering innovative solutions and providing comprehensive support to its workforce and customers alike. With a strong emphasis on driver safety, continuous training, and the latest technology, BFS ensures both its employees and its customers receive outstanding service and support. Alongside their extensive product catalog, BFS offers career pathways, competitive compensation, and a culture that values teamwork, professionalism, and growth.

The Non-CDL Driver role at Builders FirstSource is a vital position responsible for the efficient and safe delivery of building materials and supplies to customer sites. This position involves operating vehicles weighing between 10,001 and 26,000 pounds, managing logistics from loading to unloading, and maintaining clear communication with customers to guarantee satisfaction. The driver will be charged with safeguarding materials during transport and unloading, ensuring the accuracy of deliveries by verifying order details, and keeping meticulous logs related to the transport process including mileage, weights, and delivery locations.

Drivers serve as direct points of contact between BFS and its customers, embodying the company’s standards for professionalism and customer service. They must adhere to established safety standards, including use of handheld devices for regulatory compliance and regular execution of vehicle safety inspections. The role does not include supervisory responsibilities but requires a strong commitment to safe vehicle operation and the ability to navigate a physical work environment characterized by varied temperatures, dusty conditions, and heavy lifting.

Candidates will need to be highly dependable with good basic math skills, English proficiency, and a clean driving record. A high school diploma or GED is necessary, along with holding a valid driver's license and the ability to pass both the Motor Vehicle Record check and DOT medical exam. Customer focus and teamwork are key competencies for success, alongside the ability to resolve conflicts and build positive relationships with team members and clients. Physical demands include lifting heavy materials, climbing in and out of vehicles, and performing routine safety and pre/post-trip checks.

Builders FirstSource supports its drivers with competitive pay, a supportive culture, and comprehensive benefits to promote employee well-being and professional development. Those joining BFS become part of a dynamic team dedicated to building better together through excellence in service and commitment to safety at every step.
