Job Description
The hiring company is a reputable provider specializing in the delivery of building materials and related products to various customer sites. Operating within the logistics and transportation sector, the company focuses on providing reliable and professional delivery services by adhering to all safety and compliance regulations. The company prioritizes customer satisfaction by ensuring that goods are delivered on schedule and in excellent condition. It employs skilled drivers trained to handle vehicles weighing between 10,001 and 26,000 pounds, emphasizing a balance between operational efficiency and safety compliance.
This position is for a non-CDL delivery driver role, which involves loading, transporting, and delivering materials to designated customer locations. The role demands a professional driver who can maintain vehicle safety and appearance while navigating delivery routes effectively. The driver is responsible for securing loads, verifying order accuracy against invoices, and acting as a key liaison between the company and its customers. This person plays an essential role in maintaining high standards of customer service by managing concerns promptly and ensuring the protection of both the goods and the customer’s property.
Beyond driving duties, the role requires proficiency in using handheld devices to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations governing hours of service and vehicle inspections. The driver must also perform routine vehicle safety inspections, maintain accurate delivery logs including mileage and weights, and may occasionally be required to handle product return pickups or credit paperwork. Forklift operation or the use of non-motorized material handling equipment is an additional aspect of the role, assisting with the loading and unloading of materials.
This position does not carry supervisory responsibilities but demands a candidate with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate exhibits competencies in relationship building, conflict resolution, and delivering customer-focused solutions. The role operates in a production environment that may present physical demands such as lifting heavy weights up to 100 pounds regularly, and sometimes with assistance, up to 200 pounds. The driver must be physically capable of operating delivery vehicles, including climbing in and out of the cab and maintaining full visibility through appropriate physical movement.
In summary, this delivery driver role is crucial for the smooth operation of the company’s supply chain and customer satisfaction goals. It offers an opportunity to join a workplace that values safety, efficiency, and professionalism in the delivery of materials and services. The role suits individuals who are dependable, able to adhere to strict safety procedures, and committed to providing excellent customer service in a physically active setting.
