Performance Food Group (PFG) is a leading broadline foodservice distributor known for its strong relationships with a diverse range of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. PFG operates with a dedicated team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts who work collaboratively to offer advice on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and effective strategies tailored to meet the unique needs of each customer. This approach distinguishes PFG not only as a food distributor but also as a partner in helping independent restaurant owners and foodservice providers achieve their business goals and sustain growth.

Performance Food Group emphasizes a workplace culture that values safety, inclusiveness, respect, and recognition. Offering competitive pay and comprehensive benefits from day one, including health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, PFG fosters a supportive environment where employees can thrive. Additionally, the company provides ample growth opportunities through essential roles that support America’s vital food distribution system, ensuring job security and career development for its workforce.

The role of Driver at Performance Food Group involves the safe and efficient operation of straight trucks or vans either on intrastate or interstate local routes. Drivers play a critical part in ensuring that food and food-related products reach customers promptly and in optimal condition. The position requires handling urgent deliveries that may arise due to issues like mispicks or customer service concerns, which highlights the importance of flexibility, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to superior customer service.

Drivers are expected to adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies, ensuring safety on all fronts — from vehicle inspections before and after trips to securely loading and unloading products. Responsibilities include conducting thorough safety checks on the truck or van, verifying and documenting deliveries accurately, communicating professionally with customers and co-workers, and managing paperwork associated with freight and deliveries. Drivers must also maintain cleanliness and orderliness in their vehicles and surrounding work areas, exhibiting a proactive approach to equipment care and workspace hygiene.

This position requires physical stamina as drivers must manage lifting and handling of freight weighing generally between 60 and 90 pounds while utilizing equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move and stack products safely. Performance Food Group places high importance on safety, punctuality, and professionalism, making the role ideal for individuals dedicated to supporting the food distribution network that feeds communities nationwide, while taking pride in their contribution to the company's success and the customer experience.

Overall, joining PFG as a driver offers not only a meaningful and active job but also an opportunity to be part of a respected, award-winning company committed to equal employment opportunities, diversity, and a workplace free from discrimination. The company’s policies and initiatives reflect their dedication to fostering an equitable work environment that respects and values every employee's contribution.
