Job Description
Resource Management Systems, Inc. (RMS) is a reputable organization dedicated to providing reliable and safe public transportation services tailored to meet the needs of local communities. Operating primarily in Springvale, Georgia, RMS has positioned itself as an essential player in the transportation sector by offering efficient and customer-focused transit solutions. As a company that values safety, responsibility, and professionalism, RMS prioritizes hiring dependable individuals who are committed to enhancing the travel experience of all passengers while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory and safety standards. RMS upholds a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, recognizing that its workforce is the foundation of delivering quality service to the public.
The role of Public Transit Driver at RMS is a vital position that demands a high level of responsibility, awareness, and customer service skills. This role involves operating company vehicles designed for passenger transport within the local community. The successful candidate will provide safe, courteous, and efficient transit services, ensuring timely transportation to and from scheduled appointments. The driver is also expected to assist passengers as needed, including aiding in boarding and exiting the vehicle, particularly those who use wheelchairs or have mobility challenges. This role requires the operation of wheelchair lifts and conducting thorough vehicle inspections according to company guidelines. Maintaining accurate records of trips and mileage is also an essential part of the responsibility, ensuring compliance with operational requirements and aiding in organizational logistics.
As a safety-sensitive position, the Public Transit Driver must meet stringent criteria including holding a valid driver’s license—either a standard driver’s license or a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement—and successfully passing Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated screenings such as drug tests and physical evaluations. Candidates must be at least 21 years old to comply with insurance and regulatory requirements. The position offers flexible employment types, including both full-time (30 hours or more per week) and part-time (20 hours per week) schedules, allowing for accommodation of different applicant needs.
Compensation for the Public Transit Driver role is competitive, with hourly pay ranging from $15.88 to $16.88. RMS also offers benefits eligibility according to company policy, including paid time off (PTO), sick leave, vacation time based on tenure, safety incentive programs, and growth opportunities within the organization. Drivers are provided with company cell phones and uniforms to maintain a professional appearance and facilitate communication. The work environment involves a mix of seated driving periods and physical duties such as assisting passengers and lifting up to 50 pounds. Drivers must be prepared for frequent ingress and egress from vehicles and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
This position requires commitment and a professional attitude as drivers represent RMS directly to the public. Candidates should be ready to comply with all onboarding training and company uniform requirements to align with RMS’s standards. Those interested in joining a community-focused company that values safety and customer service will find the Public Transit Driver role a rewarding opportunity with room for career development and financial incentives.
