Job Description
Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a leading supplier in the United States specializing in industrial, medical, and specialty gases. As one of the largest suppliers of safety products and ammonia products in the U.S., Airgas operates with a workforce of around 18,000 dedicated associates who uphold a strong culture of safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. Being a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global leader present in 60 countries with 66,500 employees, Airgas benefits from a multinational perspective while delivering high-quality products and services domestically.
Operating from its Amarillo, TX Fill Plant, Airgas is currently seeking a Local Delivery Driver with a Class A Commercial Driver's License and Hazmat certification. This opportunity is an excellent fit for professionals interested in a stable, full-time role with competitive pay of $25 per hour, potential bonuses, and a Monday through Friday day shift schedule. This position promises engaging work where the driver acts as a vital ambassador for Airgas, ensuring the safe, reliable delivery of compressed gas cylinders to customers. The role goes beyond deliveries, focusing on building lasting customer relationships while supporting operational efficiency and safety compliance.
This Local Delivery Driver role demands both professional driving skills and a commitment to safety as well as customer service. Responsibilities include safely loading and unloading cylinders, maintaining accurate records, following strict government safety regulations including those mandated by DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA, and assisting with warehouse tasks when necessary. The role requires physical stamina to lift heavy cylinders safely, and a proactive mindset to work independently while maintaining deadlines. Drivers will operate company-provided vehicles typically straight or box trucks, with drives generally not exceeding eight hours.
Candidates must have valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License, medical examiner’s card, and Hazmat and airbrake endorsements, along with at least one year of recent Class A driving experience or equivalent training and experience from an accredited driving school. Attention to safety, strong work ethic, and the ability to engage professionally with customers are essential attributes for success in this role. The driver will be part of a supportive professional team that prioritizes work-life balance and personal growth opportunities, including internal career mobility.
Airgas offers a comprehensive family benefits package with coverage for medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance. Employees benefit from generous paid time off, including vacation, holidays, sick leave, and parental support with up to 14 weeks paid childbirth benefits. The company also provides future security benefits such as a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching contributions and tuition assistance programs. Benefits kick in early, beginning just 30 days after employment starts, reflecting Airgas's commitment to supporting its workforce comprehensively.
This is a career opportunity that goes beyond traditional driving jobs. As a meaningful part of Airgas’s supply chain, the driver contributes directly to the health, safety, and operational success of diverse industries reliant on Airgas’s gas products. This role invites candidates to fill their potential within a globally respected company that values diversity and inclusion and commits to equal employment opportunity for all applicants, fostering an inclusive, engaging environment where each employee’s contribution is recognized and celebrated.
