The role advertised is for a Local Delivery Driver based in Amarillo, Texas, at the Airgas Fill Plant which handles industrial filling operations. This position is full-time with a schedule of Monday to Friday during day shift hours, offering an hourly wage of $25 along with potential bonuses. The driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to both internal and external customers within the assigned local and regional areas. Using company-provided straight or box trucks, the driver will manage the handling, delivery, and return of gas cylinders, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations including DOT and OSHA standards. In addition to delivery activities, the driver will also support warehouse operations as needed, helping with dock work and material handling.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Must have a valid Medical Examiner's Card
  • Hazmat and Airbrake certifications required
  • Minimum of one year of prior Class A professional driving experience within the last five years or equivalent accredited driving school diploma with experience
  • Clean driving record with limited convictions or accidents
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Ability to read and understand safety data sheets
  • Physical ability to lift 25 to 75 pounds routinely and assist with heavier loads using equipment
  • Able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours and perform frequent bending
  • Must obtain forklift operator certification
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines

Job Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain forklift operator certification
  • Must be at least 21 years old

Job Duties

  • Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to customer locations
  • Accurately record deliveries and pickups on load manifests, obtaining customer signatures
  • Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to plants or branches for refilling
  • Adhere to Airgas safety standards and government regulations including DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA
  • Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed
