The role of Delivery Driver - Medical Supplies at CHRISTUS Health is crucial for maintaining the smooth operations of the hospital and health system by ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of essential medical supplies, equipment, and mail. This full-time position primarily works from 4 AM to 2 PM, making sure all necessary items reach their designated locations to keep day-to-day operations running without interruption. The position demands adherence to predetermined transportation routes and collaboration with team members to meet delivery schedules reliably.
The Delivery Driver is responsible for safely operating the delivery vehicle, maintaining it through routine monitoring and scheduling of maintenance, loading and unloading supplies, and documenting deliveries accurately. A comprehensive understanding of Department of Transportation rules and regulations is required to ensure compliance and safety on the road. Effective verbal and written communication skills in English are necessary for interacting professionally with healthcare staff and managing stressful situations. The role also demands proficiency with technology, such as smartphones and computers, to follow processes and maintain records efficiently.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills are vital to prioritize deliveries and navigate multiple stops effectively. Additional responsibilities include delivering excellent customer service by demonstrating professionalism and sensitivity to healthcare facility staff needs. Candidates will need to be adaptable, perform assigned tasks reliably, and support the leadership in various duties as requested. A clean and valid driver’s license is necessary, with preference for candidates holding a CDL class B or C depending on the state of employment (Texas or Louisiana). Previous experience in courier driving and a strong driving record are highly desirable.

Job Duties

- Responsible for delivery of medical supplies, medical equipment, mail, and other items to support the hospitals operations
- Responsible for monitoring and scheduling maintenance on assigned vehicle
- Loading and unloading of vehicles
- Maintain knowledge of Department of Transportation rules of the road
- Safely operate a delivery vehicle to transport supplies between multiple locations
- Maintain proper documentation of delivery for check ins and check outs
- Communicate in English both verbally and in writing and perform under stressful conditions
- Provide exceptional customer service to healthcare facility staff, demonstrating professionalism and sensitivity to their needs
- Perform various tasks and follow processes using technology (ie. smart phone and computer)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
