Job Description
Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a leading supplier in the United States specializing in industrial, medical, and specialty gases, along with hardgoods and related products. It stands as one of the largest suppliers of safety products and is a prominent supplier of ammonia products and process chemicals in the U.S. With a workforce of 18,000 associates, Airgas promotes a culture deeply rooted in safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. These associates are empowered to actively share ideas, take initiative, and make key decisions, fostering a strong, collaborative work environment. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide—a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for the industrial and healthcare sectors—Airgas benefits from a vast international presence across 60 countries and approximately 66,500 employees serving over 4 million customers and patients worldwide.
Joining Airgas means becoming part of a team where your contributions significantly impact the success of your peers and the broader organization. The company emphasizes sustainable product creation and safe, efficient delivery, ensuring high standards in operational excellence. Moreover, Airgas is committed to diversity, inclusion, and providing equal opportunities for all employees, creating a workplace where individuals are valued for their unique backgrounds and perspectives. Employees receive compelling pay, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth and advancement, all within a culture that prioritizes safety and mutual respect.
The role being offered is that of an Interbranch Shuttle Driver located at the Amarillo, TX Fill Plant, focusing on the delivery and handling of compressed gas cylinders and supplies. This is a full-time position offering $27 per hour, with potential bonuses and a Monday through Friday day shift schedule. Airgas provides a comprehensive benefits package supporting the whole life of its employees, including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance, as well as up to 14 weeks of paid childbirth benefits, 401(k) retirement with company match, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time. Benefits start after just 30 days of employment, underscoring the company’s commitment to its workforce from day one.
As an Interbranch Shuttle Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of compressed gas cylinders and related equipment between Airgas branches and plants. Your duties will involve loading and unloading trucks, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, and maintaining professional and courteous relationships with customers. This physically active job requires routine lifting of heavy weights, frequent use of hand carts, and moving in and out of vehicles in various conditions. Safety is paramount, especially given the hazardous nature of the transported cargo. Your role directly impacts customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and the safety culture within Airgas.
This position requires a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License, current Medical Examiner's Card, and certifications in Hazmat, Tanker, and Airbrakes. Candidates must meet specific driving experience and safety criteria, including a clean driving record with limited convictions and accidents. Physical capability to handle weights ranging from 25 to over 125 pounds, often with material handling equipment, is essential. Flexibility for occasional overtime and obtaining safety credentials for specific customer site access are additional job requirements. Preferred qualifications include proficiency in operating heavy machinery such as forklifts or Moffetts.
Airgas fosters a supportive environment where your differences enhance company performance. This position offers a rewarding career path with the stability of a well-established company and the dynamic opportunities of a global leader. If you are seeking to excel in a safety-conscious, customer-focused environment with tangible benefits and career growth, Airgas invites you to apply and join our diverse team.
