The Driver I role at Lowe’s plays a crucial part in maintaining the timely and accurate delivery of products from local warehouses to customers on designated routes. This position emphasizes not only the safe and efficient operation of delivery vehicles but also the importance of outstanding customer service. The Driver I is responsible for planning delivery activities, including printing loading tickets, routing, loading merchandise, and completing multiple daily deliveries. This job requires an individual who can utilize handheld technology to capture delivery signatures and who may also assist with warehouse operations by pulling, checking, and stocking products.

Maintaining vehicle cleanliness, completing daily inspections, and promptly reporting maintenance needs are important aspects of this role to ensure all delivery equipment is safe and operational. The Driver I serves as a liaison between customers and various internal teams, including the sales department, ensuring that customer complaints and service issues are escalated and resolved efficiently. Adherence to safety and compliance guidelines, particularly those related to the operation of company vehicles and warehouse equipment, is mandatory.

This position is ideal for individuals who possess physical fitness to manage continuous movement during shifts, have the capability to lift up to 40 pounds, and comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Commercial Driver License (CDL) regulations as applicable. Job Requirements

  • High school or GED general studies or technical school graduate
  • 1-2 years experience with box truck driving with gross vehicle weight ranging from 14,500 lbs to 26,000 lbs
  • Physical fitness to move continuously throughout the facility, lift up to 40 pounds, and operate power equipment
  • Ability to comply with DOT and CDL regulations if applicable
  • Valid medical certificate or ability to obtain one upon employment
  • Delivery drivers may work flexible shifts with voluntary and scheduled overtime as needed including additional pay for overtime
  • Driver license, valid and in state

Job Qualifications

  • High school or GED general studies or technical school graduate
  • 1-2 years experience with box truck driving with gross vehicle weight ranging from 14,500 lbs to 26,000 lbs
  • Physical fitness to move continuously throughout the facility, lift up to 40 pounds, and operate power equipment
  • Ability to comply with DOT and CDL regulations if applicable
  • Valid medical certificate or ability to obtain one upon employment
  • Experience operating forklift or power equipment such as lifts, order pickers, and similar equipment preferred
  • Experience performing in-home delivery or retail customer service preferred
  • Detail-oriented with experience in a fast-paced environment preferred
  • Spatial reasoning for effective product positioning preferred

Job Duties

  • Plan delivery activities, print loading tickets, and deliver merchandise according to schedule to ensure on-time delivery of orders
  • Utilize hand-held device technology to capture signatures for all deliveries
  • Support warehouse operations as needed including pulling, checking, stocking and other tasks
  • Verify daily vehicle inspections and ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and repairs for delivery vehicles and equipment such as lift gates
  • Escalate customer complaints, dissatisfaction, and procedure violations
  • Partner with sales team and other departments to ensure efficient and coordinated customer service
  • Adhere to all safety and compliance guidelines for operation of company vehicles and warehouse equipment
  • Function as an individual contributor
