Job Description

The hiring establishment is a reputable organization dedicated to providing essential transportation services to children and adults participating in the Head Start Program. The Head Start Program is a federally funded initiative that promotes school readiness for young children from low-income families through education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services. This organization plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and delivery of transportation services that enable children to safely attend school, centers, and program-related activities, as well as manage the logistics of food service delivery. The company operates with a strong commitment to the safety, health, and welfare of its passengers, maintaining high standards of compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as the Head Start Program Performance Standards. Their mission emphasizes reliable, safe, and efficient transportation as a foundation for supporting educational and developmental opportunities for children and adults alike.

The role of the Transportation Service Provider is vital to this mission. The position is responsible for direct transportation of children and adults to schools, centers, and various program activities, ensuring that each passenger experiences a safe and secure journey. Safety is paramount, and the provider must maintain order aboard the bus, guaranteeing the welfare of children, staff, and volunteers during transit and field trips. In addition to transporting passengers, the role includes delivering food services as part of the Head Start Program operations, ensuring that all scheduled pickups and drop-offs are performed on time and that the bus is kept in excellent operating condition. The transportation provider must adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and program requirements. They oversee routine maintenance and safety checks on the vehicle to prevent any operational issues that could impact service delivery.

This position demands a committed individual who meets specific requirements, including a clean driving record, age criteria, and compliance with drug and alcohol testing. The role also requires completion of training that combines classroom instruction with practical behind-the-wheel experience. This training prepares the driver to manage emergencies, including administering basic first aid, vehicle evacuation, and the use of special equipment such as wheelchair lifts and occupant restraints. Moreover, the individual must have the capacity for certain physical and mental attributes necessary for fulfilling the role's responsibilities. Record keeping skills and a good knowledge of the service area are considered assets to enhance service delivery. By joining this organization, the transportation provider contributes directly to a critical operational function that supports educational advancement and community welfare through dependable, safe transportation services.
