Job Description

Vistar is America’s leading distributor specializing in candy, snacks, and beverages, operating more than 25 distribution centers across the United States. With a broad portfolio that ranges from classic treats like popcorn to nutritious meal replacements, Vistar is a crucial part of the country’s food supply chain. The company has built its reputation on innovation, exceptional customer service, and a strong collaborative culture that values teamwork, integrity, and community engagement. Vistar’s presence is felt everywhere people work, play, and shop, making it a trusted partner for a wide array of customers nationwide.

This job opportunity is for a Driver, Hourly CDL-B, who plays an essential role in ensuring that food and food-related products are delivered safely and punctually. The driver not only serves as the company's representative to customers but also supports day-to-day operations that keep America’s food distribution system running smoothly. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday, starting early at 6 a.m. and continuing until the completion of the scheduled deliveries. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are part of the employment package, including day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K matching, education assistance, and paid time off, among others.

In this role, the driver is entrusted with operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck across local, intrastate, and interstate routes, including over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight runs. The work requires strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies to maintain the highest level of safety on the road and during loading and unloading procedures. The driver will conduct thorough safety inspections of equipment and freight, ensuring all loads are properly secured and meet regulatory standards. A critical part of the job involves accurate completion of paperwork, checking and verifying inventory, collecting payments when necessary, and maintaining open communication with customers, vendors, and coworkers.

The Driver’s responsibilities extend beyond driving the truck; they encompass delivering an exceptional customer experience, managing freight handling, and performing general housekeeping duties like keeping the tractor and trailer clean and organized. The position requires physical stamina and the ability to manually handle product cases weighing from 10 to 35 pounds, occasionally up to 90 pounds, with the help of equipment such as two-wheelers or lift gates. Safety, reliability, and professionalism are core values that the driver must embody to succeed in this role.

Vistar fosters a safe and inclusive workplace that emphasizes recognition and respect for its employees. The company’s commitment to equal employment opportunity ensures a diverse and welcoming environment where all employees have the chance to grow and contribute meaningfully to the company’s mission. Vistar takes pride in creating a culture where rewards and advancement are achieved through hard work and dedication. This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about playing a critical part in a company dedicated to feeding America and supporting communities across the country.
