The Driver, Hourly CDL-A role at Vistar is a vital position within their food supply chain operations. These delivery drivers are the essential links between Vistar and its customers, ensuring that food and food-related products are delivered safely, on time, and in excellent condition. More than just drivers, they represent the face of the company, developing and maintaining lasting relationships with customers through professional and courteous service. Working primarily from Monday to Friday with departure times between 1am and 4am, drivers are entrusted with operating tractor trailers or straight trucks for intrastate and interstate routes which may include local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive and drop deliveries.

Drivers are responsible for thorough vehicle inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies, ensuring both the safety of the vehicle and the freight. They conduct precise inventory counts, verify customer invoices, and manage all necessary delivery paperwork accurately and legibly. Their responsibilities extend to safely loading and unloading merchandise, utilizing equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates when required, and securing freight and vehicle doors against theft or loss. Drivers complete logs daily to record hours of service, strictly adhering to federal, state, and company guidelines.

The role requires strong communication skills to interact effectively and professionally with customers, co-workers, and vendors, ensuring all questions or concerns are addressed promptly. Drivers also perform routine housekeeping duties necessary to maintain a clean and organized working environment on the loading dock and within their vehicles.
