Job Description

Vistar is America’s leading candy, snack, and beverage distributor with a nationwide presence supported by over 25 distribution centers strategically located to efficiently serve customers across the United States. Known for its wide range of products, which include everything from popcorn and candy to healthy meal replacements, Vistar has built its reputation by fostering strong partnerships with suppliers and customers. This close collaboration allows the company to stay ahead of snacking trends and continually meet evolving consumer demands. With an outstanding focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, and community involvement, Vistar encourages a culture of teamwork, integrity, and social responsibility. The company's commitment to equal employment opportunity and diversity is evident, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive workplace for all employees regardless of background or identity.

This driver position at Vistar is a pivotal role responsible for the safe, timely delivery and unloading of various food and food-related products. The role involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, engaging in over-the-road (OTR) and local deliveries. The schedule is designed for work-life balance, featuring four-day routes with weekends off, including three days OTR and one day local driving. Drivers are expected to adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies, performing thorough safety checks such as pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers. Additionally, this position requires professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers to ensure high standards of customer service. The driver is tasked with verifying loaded freight, maintaining accurate paperwork, and securing freight properly while also managing deliveries by following predetermined routes.

Among key responsibilities are unloading products at delivery points, performing damage assessments, collecting payments where required, and handling customer returns. Drivers must maintain cleanliness and organization of their tractor, trailer, and loading dock areas and complete all necessary documentation, including hours of service logs. The position demands physical capabilities such as hand-lifting and use of equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates. Vistar values drivers who demonstrate safety awareness, reliability, and professionalism, making this role essential to the company’s ongoing success in distribution and logistics. The opportunity is well-suited for professionals with valid commercial driving credentials, a clean driving record, and a commitment to excellence in transportation and customer service.
