Job Description
This job opportunity is with a company specializing in logistics and delivery services for a variety of industries. The company operates in the transportation sector, focusing on delivering customer orders efficiently and safely to different locations using company vehicles such as vans and pickup trucks with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) under 10,000 pounds. As a part of a well-established team, the company emphasizes safety, customer satisfaction, and teamwork in its operations. The role is pivotal in ensuring that products are delivered on time and in excellent condition, supporting drivers and managing the physical handling of goods to meet customer expectations. Employment is typically full-time, with compensation aligned to industry standards for logistics support roles.
The position available is for a Delivery Assistant, also known as a Driver Assistant or Helper, who supports drivers in delivering customer orders and handling products during loading and unloading. This role does not require a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) license, making it accessible to individuals with a valid standard driver's license. The main responsibilities include assisting with loading and securing products, helping deliver and off-load products at customer sites, driving a pilot vehicle for oversize loads when necessary, and ensuring that all deliveries are completed safely and in compliance with company and regulatory standards. The Delivery Assistant will often work under the supervision of a department supervisor or manager and collaborate closely with drivers and other team members.
This position requires physical endurance and the ability to perform demanding tasks such as lifting and carrying heavy materials, sometimes up to 200 pounds with assistance. The work environment includes exposure to various weather conditions, moderate noise levels, and requires the ability to operate both motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment. The role demands a strong commitment to safety procedures to prevent injuries and maintain a secure working environment for oneself and colleagues. Regular safety meetings and continuous awareness of escort service regulations are part of the job duties.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are important for this role, as it involves interaction with customers and team members to ensure smooth delivery processes and excellent customer service. The Delivery Assistant must be able to read maps, understand route instructions, and interpret equipment diagrams to support operational needs efficiently. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy active work, have an eye for detail, and can manage time and tasks independently to meet productivity goals. Overall, the Delivery Assistant plays a crucial role in the company's logistics chain by supporting timely, safe, and customer-focused delivery operations.
