The position available is for a Campus Operations role focusing on Child Nutrition Program (CNP) Driver duties. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of food and related supplies to various school locations. This function is vital to the success of the child nutrition program, as it supports the delivery of nutritious meals to scholars and staff while ensuring compliance with strict safety and regulatory standards. With a starting pay of $18.00 per hour, this role engages employees in diverse food handling, delivery, and operational tasks critical to daily functioning. The CNP Driver is responsible not only for delivering meals but also for assisting in food preparation, maintaining food quality and safety, managing inventory, and supporting overall kitchen cleanliness and organization. Safety standards, professionalism, and teamwork are highly valued in this role, alongside strict adherence to USDA and TDA guidelines concerning food safety, transportation, and transactions.

The position requires employees to perform various duties including vehicle inspections, food loading and unloading, inventory management, and interaction with scholars and staff to promote a courteous environment. The work environment is dynamic and may involve prolonged periods of standing, exposure to varying temperatures, and interaction with other staff and students. Modifications to duties may occur as needed by Uplift Education to meet operational demands. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who have previous driving experience, possess a valid Texas driver’s license, can operate motorized vehicles safely, and hold or are able to obtain a Food Handler Permit. Candidates must be physically capable of lifting moderate weights and standing for extended periods, comfortable working in high-noise and sometimes disruptive environments, and committed to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or general education diploma (GED) preferred
  • previous driving experience with a company vehicle preferred
  • must possess valid Texas driver’s license
  • clean driving record
  • current Food Handler Permit obtained 5 days before employment
  • ability to understand food preparation and safety instructions
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment and tools
  • good communication skills
  • ability to read and understand instructions in English
  • ability to learn and use software and basic office equipment
  • pass pre-hire and annual criminal records checks if applicable
  • pass motor vehicle record (MVR) check
  • eligible to work in the United States with proper authorization
  • able to lift and move 50-60 pounds
  • able to stand and walk for entire shift
  • ability to reach, balance, stoop, kneel, twist, and bend regularly
  • maintain personal hygiene as per policies
  • adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or general education diploma (GED) preferred
  • equivalent work experience may substitute for diploma preference

  • valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record required

  • ability to understand food preparation and safety instructions
  • knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures
  • capable of operating small and large kitchen equipment
  • good communication skills with personnel, students, and parents
  • ability to read, analyze, and understand written and oral English
  • ability to learn and use software such as POS and clock in/out systems
  • ability to operate basic office equipment
  • capable of performing basic arithmetic operations
  • must pass criminal records check and motor vehicle record (MVR) check
  • eligible to work in the United States and provide authorization

Job Duties

  • assist in preparing orders for delivery to vended kitchens
  • assist in receiving stock and non-stock items ensuring specifications, quantity, and quality
  • load food carrier (Cambro) with prepared meals and transport to vended kitchens
  • drive delivery vehicles for transporting food, supplies, and materials timely
  • help maintain optimal food temperatures during transport
  • assist in cleaning, organizing food, equipment, and managing inventory
  • prepare quality food according to planned menu and recipes
  • serve food following meal schedules and safety policies
  • store and handle food and supplies in accordance with policies
  • maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen
  • operate tools and equipment safely following procedures
  • keep garbage collection neat and sanitary
  • follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • maintain personal hygiene as per food safety policies
  • adhere to professional conduct
  • ensure USDA/TDA counting and claiming processes
  • handle cashier functions accurately
  • record and maintain daily food production and delivery receipts
  • promote teamwork and positive interaction with staff
  • complete annual continuing education and training
  • attend monthly meetings
  • complete assignments efficiently
  • assist with daily and major kitchen cleaning tasks
  • carry out other kitchen tasks as assigned
  • provide professional and courteous interaction with scholars and staff
  • assist other personnel in work activities
  • conduct daily vehicle safety inspections, refuel, and report maintenance issues as per Department of Transportation and fleet safety guidelines
