The position open at Uplift Meridian Preparatory is that of a Child Nutrition Program (CNP) Driver. This role is classified within campus operations and focuses on the safe and efficient transportation of food orders and related supplies to various school sites within the network. As a CNP Driver, you will be a vital part of the nutrition program, ensuring that nutritious meals reach scholars and staff on time and at safe temperatures, complying fully with regulatory standards. This role not only involves driving delivery vehicles but also assists with food preparation, stocking, inventory management, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen environment.
The job starts with preparing orders and loading food carriers into delivery vehicles, then driving to designated locations while ensuring food safety and operational regulations are upheld meticulously. The CNP Driver’s responsibilities extend to assisting with cleaning the kitchen and equipment, handling cashier functions, and maintaining accurate delivery and food production records. Professionalism and courteous interaction with students and staff are essential aspects of daily work. This position requires a valid Texas driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass a criminal background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) review.
The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or GED, with previous experience driving company vehicles preferred. Food safety knowledge and possession or ability to obtain a Food Handler Permit are necessary. The role demands physical stamina, including standing and walking for extended periods and the ability to lift up to 50-60 pounds. Starting pay is competitive at $18.00 per hour. The work environment includes moderate to high noise, interaction with staff and students, and requires adherence to strict safety, cleanliness, and conduct guidelines.

Job Duties
- Assist in preparing orders for delivery to vended kitchens
- assist in receiving stock and non-stock items ensuring specifications, quantity and quality are correct
- load food carrier with prepared meals into vehicle and transport to vended kitchens
- drive delivery vehicles for food, supplies and materials to designated areas timely while ensuring food temperatures remain optimal
- assist in cleaning and organizing food and equipment including rotating stock and managing inventory
- prepare quality food according to planned menu and recipes
- serve food according to meal schedules and food safety policies
- store and handle food items and supplies according to policies
- maintain highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen
- operate tools and equipment safely following policies to meet cleanliness, health and safety standards
- keep garbage collection containers and areas neat and sanitary
- follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- maintain good personal hygiene according to food safety policies
- adhere to professional conduct
- ensure counting and claiming process follow USDA/TDA guidelines
- accurately handle cashier functions
- maintain daily food production worksheet and delivery receipts
- promote teamwork and interaction with staff members
- attend monthly meetings and complete continuing education
- assist in daily and major cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment
- perform other specific kitchen tasks as assigned (e.g., dishwasher, cashier, cleaning, meal pushing)
- provide courteous and professional demeanor with scholars and staff
- assist other personnel as required
- conduct daily vehicle safety inspections, refuel, and report maintenance or malfunctions promptly following DOT and fleet safety guidelines
