The role of a Child Nutrition Program (CNP) Driver at Uplift Meridian Preparatory is crucial to the smooth and efficient operation of the school’s culinary and nutritional services. This position primarily involves the transportation of food and related supplies to various school locations, ensuring that nutritious meals are delivered promptly and safely to scholars and staff. The CNP Driver plays a vital role in supporting the school’s commitment to providing healthy, high-quality meals that meet regulatory and safety standards.
As a CNP Driver, the successful candidate will be responsible for handling the logistics of food distribution, including assisting in the preparation and receiving of orders, loading and unloading delivery vehicles, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of kitchen environments. This includes operating food carriers and delivery vehicles with care, performing daily vehicle safety inspections, and adhering strictly to food safety policies and sanitation guidelines. The role also entails customer service duties such as interacting courteously and professionally with students, faculty, and staff.
The position offers a starting wage of $18.00 per hour and is classified under campus operations encompassing Child Nutrition Program responsibilities along with custodial and related tasks. The work environment is dynamic and may involve exposure to moderate to high noise levels, proximity to other people, and physical demands such as standing and walking for extended periods and handling items weighing up to 50-60 pounds. - clean driving record

- ability to lift and move 50-60 pounds
- ability to stand and walk for entire shift
- ability to reach, balance, stoop, kneel, twist, and bend regularly
- pass criminal records check and motor vehicle record check
- eligibility to work in the United States and provide work authorization
- ability to operate kitchen equipment and vehicles safely
- good communication skills
- ability to understand and follow safety and food preparation instructions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) preferred
- previous driving experience with a company vehicle preferred
- possess a valid Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record
- ability to operate motorized vehicles safely
- ability to possess a current Food Handler Permit five days before employment
- knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures
- ability to communicate with personnel, students, and parents
- ability to read, analyze, and understand instructions in written or oral English
- ability to learn and use software such as POS and clock in/out systems
- able to perform basic arithmetic operations
- able to pass criminal records check and motor vehicle record (MVR) check
- eligibility to work in the United States and provide work authorization
Job Duties
- Assist in preparing orders for delivery to vended kitchens
- assist in receiving stock and non-stock items ensuring specifications, quantity, and quality are correct
- load food carriers with prepared meals into vehicles for delivery and unload at vended kitchens
- drive delivery vehicles transporting food, supplies, and materials to designated areas ensuring timely delivery and optimal food temperatures
- assist in cleaning and organizing food and equipment, managing inventory
- prepare quality food according to planned menu and recipes
- serve food according to meal schedules and food safety policies and procedures
