This opportunity is for a Full-Time Driver (DOT - CDL) - Class A based at the OH100 Distribution Center located at 940 W Wilbeth Rd, Akron, OH 44314. The driver will be an integral part of Fastenal's transportation team, responsible for representing the company’s fleet while delivering products from distribution centers to branches and customer on-site locations. The role centers around operating a safe, well-maintained, late-model tractor trailer or straight truck. Delivery routes are typically well-established with pre-loaded trucks arranged in the order of delivery, averaging 10-12 stops per route. Drivers are tasked not only with delivering the freight but also unloading it at each stop using manual labor, pallet jacks, or forklifts.

The position requires adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) safety regulations and company standards. Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
valid Class A commercial driver’s license or in progress
possession or ability to obtain health card
possession or ability to obtain Haz Mat endorsement
meet company driving record standards
excellent communication skills
knowledge of DOT driving regulations
compliance with DOT drivers hours-of-service
able and willing to drive interstate
physically capable of lifting 60 lbs and maneuvering 150 lbs
pass pre-employment and post-offer drug and background screenings
availability to work full-time shifts including overnight hours

Job Qualifications

Excellent written and oral communication skills
possess or currently in progress of obtaining a Class A commercial driver’s license
possess a current health card or ability to obtain one
possess a current Haz Mat endorsement or ability to obtain one
meet Fastenal driving record requirements
strong working knowledge of DOT regulations for CDL drivers
maintain DOT regulated drivers hours-of-service
willingness to drive interstate routes across state lines
demonstrate ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork
lift up to 60 lbs and maneuver up to 150 lbs
successfully complete required DOT drug and alcohol screens, road test, employment verification and background check
pass post offer pre-employment drug screen, background check, and previous employment verification as required by customer or contract
prior driving experience preferred
prior forklift operation experience preferred

Job Duties

Utilizing a handheld scanner
unloading product from trucks by hand, pallet jack, or by forklift
providing excellent service to our branches and customers by delivering product in a prompt, efficient manner
interacting with shipping and receiving departments
maintaining a clean work environment within equipment
maintaining cleanliness and organization of work area
inspecting and reporting defects or issues in equipment
complying with DOT and Fastenal safety regulations
complying with health, safety and sustainability rules and expectations
participating in activities and programs to help achieve health, safety and sustainability objectives
learning and practicing various environmental health and safety trainings
