Job Description
The hiring company is a well-established logistics and distribution firm specializing in delivering products efficiently and reliably to various customers within designated markets. Operating as a key player in the transportation industry, the company focuses on maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction by ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining best practices in safety and vehicle maintenance. Committed to excellence, the organization fosters a professional environment where drivers are valued as vital customer-facing representatives of the brand and play a crucial role in overall operational success. The company supports employees with clear protocols and opportunities for career growth, emphasizing safety, accuracy, and customer relations.
The role being offered is for a Commercial Delivery Driver position, an essential function responsible for daily route deliveries with frequent stops. The driver will handle loading packages onto hand trucks and unloading products at each stop in order designated by the Transportation Department Manager. This position is unique as it is based at a domiciled location that is closer to the customer marketplace, instead of the operating company site. This approach optimizes delivery times and customer interaction. The driver will be involved in the cross-dock model, picking up trucks loaded the previous night and returning empty trucks to the assigned lot after completing routes. As a customer-facing position, the driver will interact directly with customers to verify deliveries, obtain signatures, and resolve any issues regarding orders or complaints professionally. Additionally, drivers must assist occasionally with loading trucks, palletizing products, and other tasks as assigned by supervisors or managers.
Drivers are expected to operate under Department of Transportation regulations and company policies, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance at all times. They must maintain proficiency in navigating traffic and weather conditions safely while meeting or exceeding designated route times. Physical demands include frequent lifting and moving of packages weighing up to 75 pounds, reaching high storage areas, and consistently bending and twisting during loading and unloading. Attention to detail is crucial, particularly in managing delivery accuracy and communicating discrepancies or returns to management promptly. This role demands strong organizational skills, customer service, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work independently without direct supervision. Candidates must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License and have experience driving straight trucks with route delivery expertise.
This position offers a dynamic work environment where operational efficiency and customer satisfaction are paramount. Emphasis is placed on professionalism, safety, and teamwork, making this an ideal opportunity for candidates seeking to build a career in logistics and distribution. Competitive compensation and benefits typically accompany the role, reflecting the importance of the delivery driver within the company’s overall service excellence strategy.
