The role of the Driver, Dedicated Backhaul, is a vital position within PFG’s logistics and delivery operations. Drivers in this role take on the responsibility of safely operating tractor-trailers, tandem trailers, or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes to facilitate the timely delivery and pickup of food and non-food products essential to the nation’s food supply chain. This position demands adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and embodies the company’s commitment to excellent customer service. The driver acts as the face of PFG when interacting with customers, vendors, and co-workers, building strong, lasting relationships through professionalism and reliability. The role also requires performing accurate inspections of loads, managing required paperwork, and effectively communicating with supervisors to ensure smooth operations. Drivers contribute to the company’s mission by maintaining product integrity throughout their routes and supporting overall inventory management with efficient backhaul deliveries. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A license
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Compliance with state licensing and certification requirements
- Clean driving record for the last 3 years
- Successful completion of post-offer drug test
- Successful criminal background check
- Passing of road test
- Valid DOT health card or able to obtain one
- Physical ability to lift and move products weighing between 10 to 90 pounds
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- 1+ years commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements
- Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move product cases/freight
Job Duties
- Drive to assigned supplier/vendor and/or PFG warehouse locations according to a predetermined route and delivery schedule
- Delivers assigned loads back to PFG warehouse locations for receiving into inventory
- Performs appropriate load and paperwork inspections including product counts, invoices, and quality checks
- Check and complete all required paperwork associated with backhaul operations accurately
- Routinely check in with direct supervisor to confirm route, load, and schedule and advise of any issues
- Secure all equipment and complete necessary paperwork at the end of shift
- Perform other related duties as assigned
